"I just spent the last 45 minutes with another admin person tracing down a hacker from China who posted BS announcements, made them look like Phil O' Keefe posted them, and urged downloading codecs which are probably Trojan Horses. They hijacked the VBulletin Admin page (I will be soooo glad when HC 2.0 kicks in with our own forum software!!!!!) and created two new forums with spam, which I deleted. We also did some admin mojo stuff to nuke this person that I won't mention here, because all Admins take an oath of secrecy concerning our Jedi Admin powers and how we exercise them."

If Craig is reading this (probably not) the codec scam is indeed malware - nobody needs to download "video codecs" anymore for anything. Anyway, sounds interesting that they got that far inside the castle walls.

Meh. LOTS of great people there. And I find personalities come out WAY more. The community is more palpable.

The OT threads help keep the place fun, and again, more relational.

well, it feels to me that a lot of the people on the amp forum are snobs and exaggerate things. I went in there listing headroom as a requirement and people told I HAD to get a JC120H or a Sunn, two amps that just arent my thing to begin with. Telling me I didn't know what I was talking about, the AC30 didn't have any cleans and after that it became a shitstorm about headroom and wattage and the mentioned amps. Electric Guitars section is okay, no real beef with them. Recording section is pretty good and acoustic is good but slow. Drum section whoops all kinds of ass.

They weren't going to bother with trying to fix it again, they are just going to roll out HC 2.o with the new search engine. Right now I'm sure the number one focus is just getting the site back up. What's it been now, three days?
