... from DVDs, to watches to Blackberries, to Nike and Polo gear .... :messedup
It's especially bad on line because you can't inspect the gear until you've already bought it
Buyer beware more now than ever!

Is there any difference in quality between the official slave labor's product and the bootleg slave labor's product?
I suppose it depends on the item. The big problem is, it's organized crime and costs the legit manufacterer thousands if not millions of dollars.

In light of the millions of jobs lost in the US due to them being shipped overseas, I really don't care if the manufacturers get ripped off. :banana
I just saw that on the news and the quote from the manufactures association (or whatever) was that the forgeries were costing American jobs. Yeah, right, none of the "actual" products are made in America anyways. So what Bones said...

As opposed to people who wear extremely expensive real watches - they're not fake at all!

Hell, they could be produced in adjacent factories by the same folks.

Counterfeit Nike's ? The shoes are already made in sweat shops. How much worse could a "fake" pair of $5.00 shoes be? The manufacture probably has to pay more for the rights to sew on the Nike logo than it costs to make the whole pair of shoes.

....or in the same factory. Day shift = "real" product, night shift = "fake". Kind of like the way record pressing plants operated in the 50's.

I'll side with the cynics. Some middle man in China is pocketing the cash vs. a CEO with an offshore account. Same product, probably the same people in the same factory making it. The difference is toxic Dollar store toothpaste, or anything containing lead, etc. (Everybody knows those things never make it here legally, right?...)

You would be surprised to find out how much fake stuff is in the average Marshalls ,TJ Maxx, etc. Oh and pretty much all the fragrance outlets.
The problem used to be diverted goods. Now its just fake.
