View Full Version : mating a tele body and Strat neck...HELP please!

I have ended up with a (I suppose) standard routed alder tele style body (ebay...sigh) and a MIM 21 fret Strat neck that does not seat to the right scale length due to its heel shape i.e. rounded vs tele square.
If I trim the neck back I may be getting close to the truss rod anchor. If I lengthen the neck pocket I will be into the pickup cavity.
Is there an elegant solution besides starting over?
Thanks.

...use LONGER intonation screws on the bridge pieces to "move" them forward the same distance as the neck to pocket problem.

According to this: http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/necks/necks.cfm?fuseaction=faq2 the problem would be just the gaps left in the pocket, but not intonation (which is a problem in the opposite case). Are you sure you can't intonate properly as it is? Maybe the routing in the body isn't standard?

Thanks for the link. Something is wonky here. Either the routing is misplaced,
(cursed ebay) or my bridge is non-standard. Any links to complete tele dimensions?
Longer screws on the bridge pieces (6, that I don't have) would correct the problem, too, I guess.

Bah! Forget about it. Sold off all the nasty bits and will order a nice Squier and customize it.
