This morning ( Christmas), I got a call saying my youngest boy(25),
was involved in a roadside bombing incident in Afghanistan.
He is a Corporal in the Canadian Army. He suffered severe concussion, hearing loss, cuts etc.. He is going to be alright.
One of the boys did not survive. I can only imagine what his family is going thru this Christmas.
We sure take day to day life for granted IMO.
Merry Christmas to all military personel and their families everywhere.

Can't imagine what the boy's family that didn't make it is going through on Christmas.

This morning I was talking on the phone to my elder nephew back in England. In a few weeks' time he's off to the Royal Marines basic training. It's been his dream for years, so I'm happy for him. But on the other hand, I don't want to be getting that kind of phone call next December. I'm very glad for you that you didn't get the worst kind.
Prayers sent for your son.

Glad that he escaped the worst of it, very sorry to hear another soldier didn't make it. Lots to be thankful for and unfortunately plenty to mourn. May those who need it somehow find comfort.

Birdy, so glad to hear that your boy will be ok. How frightening that must have been for you. I did hear about the soldier who died. Such a very sad thing to happen - always - but especially bad at this time of year.

Thnx for all the mojo everybody !
You know, when you're a parent, even though they are full grown
men and women....they are still your babies. That might sound sappy
to some, but you really feel that in some(this) situations.
I know he can't wait to get back home and playing his drums :rimshot

I saw the story of the other soldier on the news last night (also a BC kid).
It was tough to watch if you have a family. mojo and prayers sent.

Not a parent, never will be, so I can never fully relate. But full mojo sent, FWIW.
Best to you and yours, thanks for sharing.
Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
You are correct, even as adults they are our children always.
