so i scored both from a forumite and they arrived today. both are absolutely amazing. i'll try and get a good demo vid of both up soon.
Stroll On--
SOOOO glad i got a MkII bender--the Stroll has a trio of OC75's. had a d*a*m 1966 (mki.5) but it wasn't my cup of tea--loved the rasp, but it was a little too thin, not enough low end. the Stroll On is exactly what i was looking for in a tonebender sound. seems to be fatter, while still retaining that nasally rasp.
the construction is top notch. right up there. and i think the choice of enclosure size is perfect. it's smaller than the 1966, slightly bigger than the normal mxr, very robust.

Mr. Soul--
while i waited impatiently for them to arrive, i was more looking forward to the Stroll, i was just going to see what this Vox tonebender (mk1.5) meets FuzzFace was all about--but i honestly wasn't anticipating too too much. WOW. this thing blew my mind. i think i may like it more than the Stroll--just because i am a Fuzz Face guy at heart. My nkt275 fuzzface will always probably be my most played/cherished. But the Mr.soul is such a cool blend of bender/FF. it's got a big bottom end like the FF (maybe not quite as big, but certainly bigger than all other benders i've heard)--but tonally it's more raspy like a tonebender. it cleans up ridiculously good. it doesn't have as much sustain as the Stroll, but it's got more punch and is a little thicker sounding imho.
the trannies in mine are OC76/OC75.

it's only the first night--but 9/10 i know immediately if something works for me. both of these do. now i just need a bigger board (maybe a fuzz only board) to accomodate them all.

These must be really excellent pedals. I've been interested in Mr.Soul lately...
A good demo vid would be cool!

i got my mr. soul a couple of months ago. i am a fuzz face guy as well, but the rasp that is brought out by mr. soul is awesome. it really does blend the fuzz face with the tone bender quite well- and i see this pedal having NO problems cutting through the mix in a live situation. we need more clips of this pedal!

so far i've only played it through my hiwatt--still need to try them out with my Clark lil'bit LTD--it's very similar to your Beaufort, i'll let you know how it sounds.

yeah, forgot to mention that--i a/b'd through my fuzz face, hudson's, dam meathead--and the Mr.Soul seemed like the one that would cut through the most in a live situation. really beefy midrange, but still with plenty of raspy highs.

Hello, I ordered a MR Soul and a Stroll On recently. I received the Mr Soul and am awaiting the Stoll On from the next batch.
I am very pleased with the Mr Soul, it has a big fat sound that cleans up very nicely by rolling off your volume control, sort of like a overdrive pedal. It also has a very raspy tone when you dial it up.
Comparing it to my SkinPimp MII Tomebender with Mullard OC 81Ds, the SkinPimp has a smoother compressed sound that has more of a violin type of sustain but the sound is thinner and does not have the "big" sound or bottom end. The SP cleans up pretty well also but loses its treble when when it's set to the less Fuzzy end.
I like both but kinda like the Mr Soul's big sound a little more...anxiously awaiting the Stroll On.

I have owned both of these. Nice pedals. The Mr. Soul IS a MK1.5 circuit which was stolen by Arbiter to make the Fuzz Face. The Vox Tonebender (DAM 1966 is a clone) is an italian model and while it two is a two transistor circuit it shares very little with the MK1.5 tonally. It is much more raspy and in your face.
I found the quality on the Hudson stuff to be very good. Good score on those. Love the red knobs too!

Very cool looking- Interesting to hear how they might compare to other Tonebenders I've tried: MJM, Phoenix Electronics, etc.

I just got my Hudson Mr Soul the other day from Tommy's . I think it was his last at the moment. Its wonderful ! Truely an amazing amount of tones available . I am plugging in a VOS 58 Les Paul JR into a Victoria 5112 along with my new Friend Mr Soul . Simple and effective . Enjoy :bumpbump

Really like the red knobs!
I got my Mr Soul through the other day and am really impressed too. I got a silicon version with BC177's and an internal trim pot for dialing bass freqs in and out. I first ordered a Stroll On but the bass freqs were too much for my EL84 combo as notes would oftern sag and bottom out on me. After contacting Michael he suggested that the sound I was desrcibing as preferable was closer to the Mr Soul and maybe with the silicon trannies instead of germ.
Couldn' be happier with the result! Lots of fuzz on tap and it'll definitely cut through live, just a great articulate fuzz and built with love.
Anyone looking to spend silly money on DAM stuff should at least try and borrow one of these first.

I Have to agree with the above . Give these Hudson Pedals a go. I emailed Michael a Question and got my reply in minutes ! Those internal bias pots can really fine tune these things to your personal liking . A little bit of clockwise tweaking brightened and tightened it up just right ! Cheers !

What's the best way to get a hold of these. Tommy's doesn't appear to have them listed on their website. Any other contacts for getting a Mr. Soul and/or a Stroll On?

I got my Stroll On direct from Michael, it is indeed a great pedal. Can't wait to compare it to my D*A*M Sola Sounds MKII when it arrives sometimes next week.

Sweet, well I sent off an email. I have had a hard time finding a fuzz that works good with single coils and can stay somewhat aggressive and spitty when played through Brown Fenders which are already pretty overdriven amplifiers.

I use the Hudson White Heat with single coils and Fender Twin Reverb or Vox AC30, and it sounds great.
I don't know if you've played a Brown before, but it's very different tonally. Much more cream/lower mids. It's like the Warmer, bluesier version of a Tweed. I asked him what he thinks, so I'll see what response I get.

Won't be able to get to it for a few days--but I'll do a vid of the 2.
I'll also need to mess around with the trim pot on the mr soul. Kind of afraid to mess with the stroll on, because he put a sticker over the trimpot--I'm assuming so you don't mess with it?

Don't know if that brown fender is anything like my cornford hurricane but I was having that problem of getting a spitty fuzz that could get a raspy edge and cut through without going all squishy and the silicon mr soul with internal bass trim pot definitely worked. It now sounds much sharper and has a real edge to the fuzz.
Maybe ask him about that? To be honest, the guys seems to know his stuff so I'd rely much more heavily on his answer to your question than my advice.
Why am I writing this again?
