View Full Version : Which Dumble-voiced pedal has the most gain?
I realize that if it had too much gain, it may not sound like Dumble -- and that's OK by me. I haven't tried many, but the ones I tried -- Menatone Howie, Rumble Mod, Barber Small Fry -- didn't do it for me. I do have a boosting solution now (I didn't before) so any of them may do it now, but I'd still like to know which of the Dumbly offerings have the most gain.
Thanks!

I have tried these, Ethos, Dumkudo, Jetter and Zendrive. This is probably the order I would rank them as well. Ethos easily has the most.

I would think the Dumkudo in the "Red" mode would have as much gain as the Ethos.

Try a Menatone Shut Up And Drive. I can get tones very Dumble reminiscent but with more gain in the right setting.

Actually, you could also talk to Brian if you still have the Howie. I believe he could tell you how to coax more gain with the proper trim pot inside the pedal. Don't adjust anything without consulting him first though 'cause it's very easy to throw everything out of wack if you turn the wrong trim pot.

Thanks, but I never owned a Howie -- a store nearby has one in stock, though, and I was able to test it extensively. It also has too many knobs for my taste -- so I'll be watching to see if a 4-knob version comes.

Last time I talked to Brian he told me about a concept that sounded fantastic. Basically think of a cross between a Howie and a Kar Krash. Don't know if or when that will emerge but the idea is golden, a pedal with Dumble sing and Trainwreck/Komet sparkle and grind you can chunk out low end chords on with without getting mushy. If he pulls it off I'm all over it and I'm sure it will sell like hotcakes.

this interets me too...i have an ethos, but am looking at a dumkudo...problem is these pedals rarely sound great with the gain cranked...brians new combo idea would be awesome though
