Why don't you really treat yourself - and get a Gibson Les Paul R6 Goldtop with P90s - for some dirt in your sound! Great guitar, will go well with your amps too.
... und ein servus nach oesterreich ... :beer

How much do you have to spend? That will make a huge difference!
You already have a H535, what else do you need for tose styles? :aok

That makes sense! I'm looking at getting a Firebird VII pretty soon - pretty excited about that one.
There are many options around $1500, especially right now. You could go with a pretty nice Strat, Tele, and even a nice PRS or Les Paul Standard if you look for the right deal!

i'm leaning towards a either a gretsch 6120, gretsch 6128, rickenbacker 330/360...but the problem is i can't test one before, because they are very uncommon here...a les paul would be nice, but i can't get one in europe for that price...!

When I lived in England, I hated that I couldn't try out many of the guitars I wanted to buy!
The Gretsch guitars are a lot of fun and have a unique sound. Best of luck finding what you want!

USD $1500? Add $200-$300 and get yourself a used Lentz!

Have you considered an SG?

If I were you I'd get a nice jazzmaster (maybe Elvis costello ver, cause I like the finish) it's in your range and a very formidable guitar. I love grestch but it's hard finding a real nice one and if you can't play it first I would be worrisome. My advice would be to go to every music shop you can find and play anything that calls to you, you might be surprised.

Jazzmasters are definitely cool, but finding a good JM is a LOT harder than finding a good Gretsch. The QC on the guitars coming out of their factory in Japan is amazing. Even the Korean made Electromatics with some minor setup sound and play great.

Hi jimistiff,
looking through your threads, you clearly seem taken with Gretsch guitars - not a bad choice. Here is one on special in Munich - http://www2.justmusic.de/guitars-basses/electric-guitars/semi-acoustics/gretsch-g6120ssu-brian-setzer-eb-orange-tiger-flame.html?SID=c60dceb3dab141751b001d11edb0ce1d
Silly suggestion, sorry, it's way more than you are able to spend :-(
Might be worthwhile going on a day trip to Munich though to try out a couple of other models.
We have the same problem here in Australia as well, quite a limited choice of guitars to try out, and they are very expensive (compared to the US). It's a shame really, but I'd quite happy order one from the US for half the price - although not being able to try the guitar out, hold it in your hands etc is not for everybody.
I am surprised you want to sell your Heritage, seems like an excellent guitar for the kind of music your band plays. But it's understandable, we all hang out for new gear, and being on forums like this doesn't help at all.
Good luck, hope you find a Gretsch that you bond with!
Cheers, b.

Sooner or later you will want your heritage 535 back and you have trouble getting good guitars so don't make yourself suffer the same fate later just to appease your whims today. You'll make yourself suffer the same fate twice instead of once.
Maybe go with a cheaper but reputable online seller since you are taking a chance? Could an Eastwood Classic 6 (http://www.eastwoodguitars.com/GTRs/classic6/classic6_frm.htm) work for you? How about their Messenger, Delta 6, or P-90 Special models?

Since you're curious about P-90s and have humbucker guitars how about getting Seymour Duncan P-Rails (http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/humbucker/progressive/prails_shpr1/) for your 535 or Volcano?

Big agree on the JM! Also, I have an Epi Casino with p90s which is also a great guitar. Since i got those I don't play my Gretsch TN Rose as much.

Since you allready own a H535 and a Tele, I'd get a Les Paul.

But he has "V" and 535. The LP would be too similar. He has two solid body guitars and one semi-hollow body. The semi hollow and the "V" are both 24.75 inch scale, rosewood fret board, tunomatic, and gibson humbucker type. The tele is 25.5 inch scale solidbody, fender single coil type, maple neck/fretboard. The V is korina. The 535 is maple I expect.
An Eastwood Messenger is Semi-hollow, 25.5 inch scale, Spruce Top, Mahagony back/sides, center block, mini-humbuckers, no neck heel, etc. It has plenty of features that none of his guitars have and he'll have plenty of money left over to get P-Rails for his Volcano and 535, or an Eastwood P-90, or an Eastwood Delta 6(resonator and p-90, like nothing he already has). If he doesn't like the P-Rails, he can easily put back the originals without diminishing the value of the guitar.

Variax - an ideal third or fourth guitar. It fills in all the holes, letting you play around with sounds you don't use often enough to justify buying a guitar for - 12 string electric and acoustic, P-90 guitars, dobro, sitar, banjo, Rickenbacker, Gretsch, etc. plus with the Workbench software it lets you design your own - changing values, wiring pickups in series or parallel, using pickup/body combinations that don't exist and so on.

I either think a Gretsch or Rickenbacker would be an excellant choice.
