Pretty bad ass! Only took about an hour to do (and this is my 1st build). I haven't decorated the case at all but the circuit's in and sounding great. I messed with the trannie placement and bias until it sounded right.

I've been jonesing for a Bender for a L-O-N- G time. It's great to know that I can get an OC75 Bender for $100.

I think I might try the Mouse next (or maybe a British OD - (Bluesbreaker)):bonk.

Sounds awesome! Thanks for the heads up. Can you buy a OC81D Trans for it?

If you stumbled upon them on ebay yes, but you would have to buy them separately and swap them in the sockets. The likelihood of you finding any OC81d's let alone any functioning ones is slim! And costly at that.

You could try finding AC125s or OC84s, they have similar sonic qualities to OC81Ds, again though you have to buy many or well tested transistors as a lot of the time NOS trannies are unusable.

I know builders that have to sift through 30 or 40 to find maybe 10 good transistors!

OC75s sound great and the BYOC kit has nice ones with the kit.
OC75's are what were used in all known examples of the Sola Sounds Tone Bender Professional MKII, but OC81d's were used in VOX MKII's.

Many famous artists used the Sola Sounds Units!

It's a great pedal, isn't it?

I just got back from practicing with it and I thought it was great. I need to work the bias for maximum "rasp" but other than this it's good. See my new thread about how I learned to use fuzz. It was a revelatory night!

I'll see what I can do.

But seriously, for $100 and some solder smoke. It took a little over an hour (my first build) and was idiot proof (relatively) and most important, it sounds great.

Plus I didn't have to wait for some one to build me one (though I am on the Colorsound MKII (D*A*M) list. So in five years, I'll let you know how they compare.:wave

But they might exist. There aren't too many of these around, so it's impossible to tell if they made a Sola Sound labled batch that late in production or not.

Dude, get the Mouse. Seriously. With the 6-way rotary switch, you can get so many great sound out of that box that is insane.
