Yes. I was surprised to see him there. My wife actually noticed him before I did...which was also surprising.

Like I said before, Timberlake doing this song, along with "Dick in a Box", has certainly earned him some bonus points from me.
Great version of that song. I would go as far as saying that I have not seen such a heartfelt performance since Jeff Buckley.

Don't forget "Motherf**ker" - The second best idea we've ever had!

That is Matt Morris. He is the son of a great country singer Gary Morris. Justin and Matt were on the Mickey Mouse show at the same time.

No, but Charlie Sexton was playing guitar on the song behind JT and Matt Morris.

Ahhh... I see that now that I look at the video again. Was that a Trussart he was playing?

Wow, I honestly didn't know that JT had that talent in him. Good for him. Great version of a difficult song to sing, especially in these circumstances. And for a great cause, too. I am now a fan of his.
I was actually very surprised at the overall vocal quality of the performers. Usually I can't handle Mary J. Blige's vocals, but she really sang straight up and it sounded great. Stevie Wonder was spot on too!

That was really good. It's so cool to see JT "get it", the young man obviously loves music.

isn't it interesting that most of the performances at this powerful event are all songs from the 60's and 70's and gospel tunes? Stevie singing Bridge, etc... it say something to me that this music is still so pertinent and powerful today in the sea of musical detritus

I thought Matt Morris blew JT away, does Matt have a successful music career?

Madonna was horrid btw... and shows you how weak that tune really is too.
Yeah, Madonna in that environment did not shine.

Ran into Charlie coming out of the elevator at the hotel the other day. Wondered what he was up too. Cool!

Justin Timberlake is VERY talented as an entertainer. Singing, dancing, he does it all. Forget that whole boy band thing...we now all know why he's the only one of those guys you still hear about.
And of course Charlie Sexton is awesome. Still listen to Arc Angels and Under the Wishing Tree.

I agree, I too thought it was a great performance of a difficult song. Having Sexton in the band also shows me they have great taste. :)

Matt is really just now hitting. He is signed to Justin's label and Charlie produced the record- hence the band lineup on the clip. FWIW, my buddy Jon Powers is Matt's drummer and was on that "gig". I talked to him this week- they did Letterman, Ellen and a bunch of other TV this past week as well as showcase gigs in NYC and LA so the promo machine is very much rolling for Matt. The record is supposedly selling really well on the back of all this. Who knows what will happen long term but it's obvious he's got all of Justin's confidence.

Actually, JC Chasez is equally talented as a singer and dancer, I have worked with him several times in the studio and he is a monster talent, just maybe not as smooth and outgoing as Justin. One more example of how the music business is a joke, they buried his solo album which was quite good(didn't like the poor choice of singles, but plenty of great songs on the album).

Nice version by JT, but not even close to the great Jeff Buckley. I thought the dreadlocked kid on American Idol a few years ago did a better job than JT.
Will definitely be watching for Matt Morris, he seems like a huge up and coming talent!
