I have just put together a Warmoth parts strat, and will be wiring up the pups (Suhr V60 LPs) this week. I also have the Suhr Backplate and wonder where people place the trimmers for that? Do you leave them under the backplate with the trem springs for easy access, or do you just leave them under the pickguard? Under the pickguard seems like a PITA if you ever want/need to get at them again. Also, do you ever find that you need to readjust the trimmers, depending upon the particular room and playing distance from amps?
Thanks
Tim

Guess, I'll have to phone Suhr tomorrow and ask them. You would think they would have designed the backplate system so that access to the trimmer controls was easy :messedup

Goes under the PG. Once you have the trimmers set you don't really need to mess with them.

Under the pickguard. When you put it in leave enough lead on it to temporarily place the board outside with everything hooked up and then adjust the trimmers. One for the Bridge p/up, one for the Neck/Middle. When you are done put it back under the guard.

I was wondering about buying the Suhr backpllate system, but if I did, I'd really prefer to be able to switch it in and out. Does anoyone know if that's possible.

I know it is with the integrated SSC system. Not sure about the BPSSC. Suhr has great customer service though, I'm sure you'd have your answer today if you asked them.

I appreciate what you're saying, but I've never wanted to disable it after installing it. It just works. I've never wished I had my hum back:-)

Thanks for the replies guys. I was at my guitar techs last night showing him the system, and we're going to try mounting the trimmers underneath the backplate and above the trem springs with access via the string slot with a small screwdriver. I'll get back and let you know how it works out.

Tim Z:
I know that this doesn't apply to your Strat, but Tom Anderson guitars with pickguards have this little access plate that are used for dip switches for their switcheroo system. My guitar is a basic Strat type, so I put my BPSSC trimmer plate right behind that little access plate: http://www.andersonguitars.com/cfPages/showSingleGuitarGallery.cfm?passedID=11&finishID=113&bodyWoodID=9
What might be of help to you is that I agree with all the other users that once you set the trimmer pots, you never have to access them again (unless you change pickups).

So are you guys saying that no matter what room you are in, no matter where you are situated in relation to your amps (i.e. further away, off to the side, etc.) or what the electrical situation is with a particular room, that you will never ever have to adjust the trimmers again once set at your home? My tech thought that it might make a difference in different rooms where you are playing in a different location from where you originally set it.
Do you think it will make any difference, or perhaps have a detrimental effect on the backplate, if the trimmers are located behind the backplate?

I've never had to adjust mine once set - I think it is more based on what pickups you are using instead of room, amps, etc.

I got mine through Acme Guitar Works with the solderless option - I can easily unhook the backplate if needed, but never felt the need except to show others how well it works.
Once it is set to ideal spot, you don't need to mess with it anymore imo. I have the system on my CS 1960 Strat and like said above- I don't miss the hum.
