I had an H2 for quite a while (2 years) and I sold it when I got the new Q3.

I have been listeing to recodings from both recorders in the last two days. ....And....It seems like the H2 has overall better sound quality. The Q3 is briter, but, not as much bass response.

Am I cracking-up, or does anyone concur with my findings?

Thanks!

P.

can't help you here as I've not tried either (although I recently got a secondhand H4), but people might be confused by your question as you wrote Q2 when perhaps you meant H2

Dunno.
I have a an original H4 (which I'm probably selling), a new H4n which I hope to try this weekend, and a Q3 coming in a few weeks.

At some point, I'll definitely be comparing the H4n and the Q3's audio. But not this weekend.

Not sure, but if the Q3 can do A/V or just audio it would definately be the best of both worlds.

The Q3 is a standard def video recorder being marketed (from what I've seen) as also having decent stereo audio recording quality similar the the H2 audio-only handheld 'field' recorder.

I believe this is what the OP is trying to get info/opinions on. ie: his original H2 apparently gave him better quality audio than his Q3.

Samon is trying to hit another home run with this product -as they did with the H2 and H4 a few years ago, imo.

This time, a relatively inexpensive video recorder with decent stereo audio, perfect for...a lot of things. Ready to drop decent qualility (tho not high def) vids and audio into your laptop, up to youtube.

For musicians, better than an i-phone, webcam or a Flip or whatever for recording music related vids/peformances etc.

The Q3 has the same mics as the H4n. The audio quality is excellent. Audio is the best I have heard so far and I have heard quite a few. I uploaded 2.20 bios yesterday. That bios had some video improvements in it. Video is just OK but could improve with bios upgrades in the future.

Where did you find the 2.20 BIOS update? I just checked the site, and didn't see an available download.

Thanks everyone.
my original question was this: In your experience, how does the audio recording quality differ between the H2 and the Q3. Not whether the H4, or H4N, or Q3, or H2 are good or bad, but rather, the comparison of the H2 audio quality with the Q3 (using their built-in microphones).

'Cause it seems to me that my recordings made using the Q3 do not have as good overall audio quality as the H2. The Q3 seems to attenuate the low frequenices noticeably. Can't hear the bass guitar very well at all, and the highs are over-accentuated.

Here's a question: Does the audio enconding differ (with the Q3) whether you are recording video vs. audio only ?

Thanks

P.
