I have a black tolex Pro Jr and I want to strip off the tolex. I really want to get that worn, no-finish look of Bonnie Raitt's Strat. Any suggestions?

Did she used to have tolex on her strat?

I don't believe you will find a wood cab under the tolex of the stock Pro Junior.

At least not wood like Bonnie Raitt's strat...

But if you want a lack of finish, similar to Ms. Raitt's strat...the first step is to remove the Tolex. Don't expect to be done at that point, though.
You're gonna need to strip some glue...and probably sand to wood.
Then you're gonna have a crappy plywood box...with glue stains in weird places...so it won't take a finish...
You should remove the tolex and recover with flannel. Like a lumberjack.

If it were mine and I wanted something different I'd buy the tweed Pro Sr. cab. That thing looks real nice and Bonnie's roots are in old blues. Tweed and old blues go together great.

That's also a lot less work than stripping a plywood cab.

Hmmmm thanks. Never really thought of that, which is weird because it makes so much sense now.

But I could paint it right? Remember, I don't care about this thing looking pristine. Funky is ok too.

Those things look great but we're talking $275 for a $175 amp. Not worth it.
