Which picups did Tony used in the early days?
Its not Humbuckers, not mini humbuckers - maybe p90 with metal covers?

p90's, then p90's with metal covers to reduce feedback. If you listen to "Live At Last" the first note of almost every song is the feedback squeal from him turning up the volume

Found the answer on wiki, thanks.

Gibson SG aka "Monkey"[13] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Iommi#cite_note-12)
A 1965 Gibson SG Special in red finish fitted with a Gibson P-90 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P-90) pickup in the bridge position and a custom-wound John Birch P-90 style single coil in the neck position. The guitar became Iommi's main instrument after his white Stratocaster's neck pickup failed during the recording of Black Sabbath's self-titled album.
