Transferring Cassette to MP3

Any tips for transferring old cassette to MP3/.wav/CD, etc?

I found an old band live boom-box recording from 1987 I'd like to transfer to the computer. I'm running line out from Boom box to Lexicon Lambda interface, using Reaper. Not too bad of results so far considering the original poor condition of the tape.

Are there any effects or plug-ins in Reaper that may be useful?

I've burned lots of dead shows from cassette to CD.

Run the tape out through an equalizer so you can clean up any hiss.
