Who's played it? It's my next bass.:stir I finally found one in a store to try out and i loved the way it played. Anything bad about i should be aware of? I heard some rumor about low output on the D and G string. Of course the same place i read that the dude said to change the pickup because it gets caught on his sleeve.:jo

I think they are a great bass for the money. Some people speak of intonation troubles but for small money you can get some Wilkinson compensation bridge saddles that solve that problem while maintaining the vintage vibe.

I would be very surprised if anyone who stylistically chooses this type of bass is gonna have an issue with the intonation (or at least I hope not!).

String-to-string output balance can be an issue. The p.u. polepieces are generally flush with the flat p.u. top, making the poles closer to the outside (E and G) strings if your bridge is set up to match the radius of the fingerboard. The original Fndr p.u. had a raised A string pole, and some aftermarket p.u.s (Duncan antiquity and maybe Fralin) have this too. I play a '68 Tele bass with the raised A pole, and the balance is good. The p.u. will not get caught on your sleeve if you keep the metal "sleeve-catcher guard" on it, as God and Leo Fender intended!

Single-coil hum is an issue for the squeamish, and Fralin has a hum-cancelling version that retains the hip sc sound.

If you're a Jaco-type technician with a big-rack rig, you don't want this bass. But if you're (like me) a bass caveman looking to create a dull, low-end roar in the grand tradition, this is all the bass you need!

Oh it's what i want. Looks sexy. I just figured i'd dispel all the stupid rumors just in case, before buying. I'll look into the wilkinson pieces if i have any problems. Come on tax return!

I don't even play bass (I play guitar) and I've wanted one of these for years. It's kind of like the Esquire or Les Paul Junior - of basses. They just sound right to me. Slap in an antiquity II!!!
