Indeed. If I never had the internet I would like that song more. It just makes me feel silly playing it now.

it never sounds right on a les paul.
fortunately, i never get tired of sideburns with no hair.
and give the guy extra credit. he played lenny too. if he played crazy train, it would have been a youtube trifecta.

Why take the time to post this if it's so bad? I'm not disagreeing...

It makes some people feel better to belittle others.

Took me to finish the first cup of coffee to realize I didn't want to post that. Too late.

There are players of all skill levels on YT. Where's your version?

So the guy likes the tune and uses the same tune to demo different gutars and gear. Big deal.
Ive never attempted to play this tune but Im going to now.

Not that I disagree with you, though, it's just that I don't really see a problem with complaining about other players, as long as said complaints are warranted. I do it in real life, and I do it online. It's human nature.

Little Wing is such a beautiful song. I worked on a cover recently to try and bring some of that beauty out. The focus is off the guitar and is on the melodies and quietness of it all.
The problem with covering that song is that people continuously play it like Jimi or in Jimi style. It's perfect as is but a new direction is what I went for. I'll be sure to post it when I get around to doing a video.

that's what i take from it. i usually go by vid titles - all of them are gear oriented, so to me that means he's going to stick with a tune he knows and just demo gear. it actually works better that he uses the same tune played the same way if he's going to demo. i have no beef with that.

I've heard far, far worse. And he's clearly spent some time on this, so give him credit.
Just wish he'd tune that bass string a bit.

The overall structure is generally the same, but the soloing is going places that were unthinkable in the '60s, making this my favourite cover version of "Little Wing":

I love this song...I say more power to 'em. My jazz trio attempted to do an instrumental jazz version of it that never really worked out as we envisioned, but I tihnk in the hands of a better arranger than myself could have been great.

I am the singer/harp player and not the guitar player. At least give me credit for not playing a blues scale over it! Lol.:rotflmao
We used to only do this song when people wanted classic rock, but then we added the keyboard player, which I think adds a lot to the sound here. Now we play it a lot more (and for the harp nerds I use 11th position now and not 12th like in this vid).

Very nice covers by all and great solos. Mike - I like how you guys included the Eric Clapton ending. And dont take offense - you played within blues scales. It was wonderful. I liked yours better than the 2 above. Nice country twang at times too!
@Yngtchie - those versions I would still say are hendrix style. I'm not calling my rendition a revolution - but the way I play it bares no resemblance to Jimi's version guitar wise (of course other than the progression; and the solo where I do hints and recalls of his solo). I really wanted to shift the song from a guitar rock song to something that seranades vocally. I think the words are beautiful - as his is voice on the track. Of course - the guitar is amazing on the original. One of the most iconic songs in my musical book ever. But I want to pay homage to the other beautiful aspects of the song other than the guitar.

It's not the fact that the guy plays little wing alot - it's just that if he's demoing gear - little wing is a great tune to demonstrate a strat, a Marshall (JTM ?), or perhaps even a Super Reverb/Vibroverb if demonstrating.
The tune doesn't seem like an appropriate choice if the intent is to demo the full faculties of the les paul and/or amp he's broadcasting

The band I'm in is playing it but we can't decide which way to go with it. It can easily fall into something like soft-rock schmaltz if you're not careful. We're planning to try it sort of dub/reggae style to see if that works. We don't have any other tunes in that style but it seems to present possibilities for LW
couple of those vids are SRV's Lenny, not Little Wing - but continue with the hatin'...:munch
