Townsend shoulda checked out in advance how his coat and shirt tails effected his sustain. His voice is shot but Daltrey has held up well. What were those cymbals 24", 26"? Too cool!
As one who spent a portion of my life holding Townsend in the highest regard, I wish I hadn't seen that.
Back to the game...go Saints!!!!!

Sadly, I agree totally. IMO Pete looked like an old man pretending. The lousy mix didn't help either. But it was tough to see Pete's gut hanging out during the windmills.

No worries, the execs made sure everybody in the band put duct tape over their nipples, just to be safe.

I thought it was great.
Oddly enough, after the show, I thought "huh... they didn't get old"

The Who were fine... It could have been some band much worse then they are.

A bad night perhaps? I saw The Who last April and was completely blown away to see that Townshend was absolutely at the top of his game - total powerhouse, certainly no nostalgia trip. Daltry's singing was sub par, but I can forgive him for that - couldn't be easy for a guy his age to sing the way he did when he was in his prime. Townshend, however, absolutely drove the band - who kicked serious arse.

Pete looked very old... Rog did OK, the mix sucked. Ringo's boy and Pino are solid together.
Guys, they are old. Just hope that you can be anywhere near as good as them when you are.

Yep I agree, any mofo off of the Gear Page could have pulled it off much better than the Who during the 12 minute spot at the Super Bowl where they had to construct the stage, redo the sound and be outa there by the second half. I'm tempted to block Pete's threads on my personal settings to tell the truth...

Oh while we are all slamming Pete and his aging voice/body/shirt tails, did you happen to catch Carrie Underwoods last note of the National Anthem? Can't wait until she's "old". Little to no respect here. I guess we hold different standards for John Lee Hooker and B.B King because they can't (couldn't) sing and play compared to when they were young people. You're time is coming too, I hope we all check out by the time we are 40 cause we just can't cut it anymore...

So at what age are we supposed to put down our guitars?

No kidding. I though Queen Latifah did a MUCH better job on America the Beautiful.
As for the Who, the rocked IMHO. Although Roger looked like he was really straining to reach some of those notes. Good job boys. Great HT show with no fluff...

Yeah, I wish I was young again. Life was so much easier when I knew everything!

Well, I can also state honestly, rock and roll is the most age biased business there is. As much as musicians claim to be the most open-minded liberal animals that ever walked the face of the earth, including the dinosaurs..we simply are no better than anyone on talk radio...
