I was just wondering if there are any effects that can make your guitar or bass sound like...say...a piano synth.

I'm bad at describing...I guess i'm asking if there any Ableton-like equivalents in a box. I don't have a computer or a MIDI device to use ableton with, so I want to see if there are other onstage options.

It seems like multi-effects pedals have a crapload of everything, but from what I've seen, most are just the standard effects.

Hope this isn't an annoying question to understand/answer.

Digitech EX-7 Expression Factory. This pedal is totally underrated. The Spacestation is awesome.

wow. i'm going through the videos right now.

Are there any effects that also shorten the length of the note? like...make it sound like a keyboard without the pedal. i'm an fx noob, so if this is something that a compressor can do, i apologize. for my stupidity.

Line 6 M9 can produce some insane sounds.

In my band we cover "From The Beginning". For the solo, the keyboard starts playing the guitar part with a guitar patch, and I play the synth solo! Very fun.

Boss GT-10b has lots of synthy sounds. Doubt a piano synth but not your average bass multi.

Clever use of a volume knob/pedal can make you guitar sound violin(ish) add some delay/modulation for more cool sounds.

There is midi pickup/sound module for straight up sampler
There are ebow, and octave dividers or fuzz to change how the strings attack
And there is a cool pedal called boss slicer for sequencer effects
The eh synth pedal is pretty cool too

i have a roland ef303-it's a dj/groove effects thing-it makes your guitar sound not like a guitar.

i had an old korg kaoss pad and a mini KP -both of them will make you not sound like a guitar if you want....

and my old digitech dsp256xl-had a couple of settings that was extreme flange, w/ echo and delay-and it sounded nothing like a guitar...fun stuff....
