View Full Version : Tremolo sound when amp turned up
Let me preface this by saying that I don't know that much about tube amps. I have a Mesa Boogie Subway Rocket Reverb that I have owned for several years. At our last show, I noticed that the amp was producing a tremolo effect when I played through it that I haven't noticed before. More so on the distortion channel but its there on the clean channel too especially the harder I pick or strum. Any idea on what is causing this or how to fix it? thanks in advance.
ps. it actually sounds pretty awesome but i can't get it to stop...

That happened with my Fender Blues Deluxe RI, then the tubes went. Probably the tubes that needs to be changed.

Tremolo sound when amp turned up
cool! you got the trem built in lol!
But seriously, sounds like maybe your amp may be motorboating, filter caps in the power supply but
you say it happens to a different degree on each channel so it may not be that, you have a component failing or cold or bad solder joint causing some oscillation
try replacing the preamp tubes one at a time with a known good tube,
if trem sound still there your gonna need a tech
