I've been digging what I've heard about the D13 edt model but two things make me curious about what else might be out there/similar. First is the price, this baby is 3k and while I'm not looking for a cheap amp and am willing to spend a good price, that is nonetheless on the upper end. Secondly, I've heard it's incredibly loud and wouldn't want to piss off anyone (roommates/neighbors), especially if I wanted to utilize the AB sound.
So anything else out there that has crazy awesome and versatile clean tones like this? Or is it truly in its own league?
(needs to be able to handle pedals!)
Thanks!
Hmmmm....I had one for a bit, a head. It's kind of a hybrid, not really a Blackface or Tweed, or Vox, or Marshall, but they are all kinda in there. I wish it had a midrange control, the pull boost was OK though. I preferred it in 13 W Class A mode, just had more "sizzle" there and it was plenty loud in my 5 piece band.
When they pop up, I have seen them much cheaper than $3K.
I wanted to get away from leaning on a pile of pedals, never liked the result I got stacking OD pedals, so I swapped it for a Mod50.

How do you like the clean channel on that?
The EDT is a single channel amp.

Like already mentioned, the EDT is its own animal. Not many amps out there do it like the EDT does. I also agree that its got the influence of many famous amps out there. It's loud amp for sure but its a good manageable loud. If it ever becomes too much, a decent attenuator makes it easier to deal with. I did a demo of my old EDT a while back and demonstrated it with a Hot Plate and it seems to sound pretty good to me. It also takes pedals really well and I demonstrated that as well.
Check it out and I hope it helps:
