Pros and cons from owners would be much appreciated

I love my Zendrive and after Jim at Omega Amps did his mods to my Fender HRDX it's very Dumblesque

None of the above...Wilson Dual Lotus Drive II. Caveat...I've only owned the Wilson pedal, and I'm honeymooning it right now. I have SN#001. Its going to become really, really popular. Kevin did an amazing job. BTW its two separate pedals in one and yes you can route each one however you want. So yeah my pick is the Wilson.

I'm actually very curious about this and the Stoned Grasshopper. I have a Wilson Wah that I love and Kevin Wilson has been great to deal with. Can you tell us more about it?

Jetter Blue was fun, but I don't think it will be what most are looking for. I'm actually selling mine, if interested, PM :)
I would go with Jetter Red and the Zendrive. The Red is a touch thicker (better for single coils?) and the Zen is a touch more tweakable and transparent.
Also for single coils, check the Mosferatu.
no experience with the Dumkudo.

I have a bk butler but it really needs to be going into another gain pedal to get the right sound. I hate stacking pedals for what amounts to a decently hi gain sound because the noise gets really out of control even with low noise pedals

The Vintage Head pedal looks really interesting. I liked the sound of it on the video demo.

Just to clarify, when people talk about the Dumble tone, they're talking a real warm high gain lead tone a la eric johnson, right? That's the impression I got. I hope I'm not misusing the lingo...

I think the Fuchs Plush Extreme Cream I have does the higher gain "D" tone pretty well. It's very thick and smooth but doesn't lose clarity when chording, pretty nice. I don't really have a use for that tone though, so it's on Ebay right now.
I have the HAO Rumble Mod and FET Dream.

Haven't tried the Gold, still have an Ethos TLE overdrive though, that one does sound good with the gain cranked.
The pedal I am using that suits me more is the ProAnalog Dual Drive, this pedal does what I wanted the others to do...that's all I was really after when I started this search.

I found a seriously killer Dumble-y tone by running my Zendrive into the clean channel of the Menatone Howie. I use that combo when we play "Europa" by Santana and it never ceases to make me grin like a cheshire cat as that tone is simply amazing!

My fav to date is the Jetdrive. There a whole lot I haven't tried but like the Jetdrive enough that I don't see the need to keep cycling through other ones. At least this week. Really like what happens when I push the Jetdrive with either an EP Booster (just to add girth and change the tone) or a Screw Driver (set pretty fuzzy).

The Bluzking is the Effect Pedal Boutique's dumble pedal, but wasn't the clone I was talking about, nor have I played it. I do think the SRB808 in the middle toggle position has this syle of gain though. The clone I have is called a Rinzai Drive, in a small 1590a enclosure.

I replaced my Zen with a Dumkuko... I heard lot's of great Zen demo's, but it for some unknown reason, it didn't seem to work with my rig. The Dum just killed right of the gate, and with the three modes, it's Not a one trick pony.
I will say that I tried to pull the trigger on a Tubeless ( those really are pricey ) at the LA amp show..... Sakashta (may he rest in peace, such a talent ) was offering a show sale price, but wasn't set up for CC and I didn't have $380 cash on me that day.
Wouldn't say I like the Dumkudo better than the Tubeless, both very cool different flavors. But, I will say the Dumkudo cover's a lot more ground. I just wish you could change the modes with a foot switch, man that would kill. Of course, he makes the twin for that, but the price at that point is an issue.

It would most likely be a very simple mod, though you might have to use a larger enclosure.

You are talking about approximating the sound of an amp which has gone through a microphone, board, pressed and mixed to a file and then pressed to make a cd.
Any pedal should be able to do that. It really is cherry picking, perhaps didn't even sound that great recorded but the Engineer fixed the weak points, who really knows for sure.

The Gain Stage Blue is definitely not a Dumble pedal. The Red is Jetter's closest to a D-style, and it's a good one. I own the Red and the Zen and at the moment prefer the Zen slightly, but they're both quite good. That said, I don't really think either one is anything like a "D in a box." They both get some of the chirping attack and singing sustain, but I don't think they have all the complexity I hear when I go to see Larry Carlton. They will get you in the ballpark though.
So far I've tried Small Fry and now Pearl Drive. Have no intention of sounding like Dumble, just trying to find one I like -- Small Fry has more character and is tweakable, but at the end of the day I wanted more touch sensitivity. Pearl Drive is more transparent and more touch sensitive, and I do like it and it sounds great -- but I think I want something with more character AND more touch sensitivity.
I'd love to try Dumbell next. Actually I heard Harry's demo of it and thought it sounded like my idea of Dumble tone -- Harry didn't mention it though. Jetter GSR, I haven't heard a clip of it that sounded close to what I have in my mind, so.... It's also possible to come to the conclusion that after trying a bunch Pearl Drive is the best for my taste. I don't like to get into pedals with too many knobs (and too expensive) like Ethos and Retroman.

Had a Zen, Zen2 and prefer the Ethos TLE by far. Everyone wants something different from a D type tone, different applications, guitars, etc,but works well for me. Heck, I prefer my Barber Small Fry to the Zendrives. I sold the Zen 2, getting ready to sell the original zen.
Not to hijack the thread, but has anyone tried the RunOffGroove (or OLC) Umble?

Zendrive / Fet Dream / SRB808
First off, I'm not sure you can go wrong with any of them.
Fet and Zen are around the same price. The SRB808 is significantly less expensive, especially if you take advantage of his sales.
The SRB808 is easily the most versatile with the 3 way clipping and bass boost. An excellent value.
I'll post some results when I can really dig in and open them up.

Actually, yes I have heard a couple live. I even have been fortunate to have played one.
There are many Dumble sounds especially because of changes to the circuits over the years. Not to mention the different models, though I think it's safe to assume this discussion is referring to the Overdrive Special.
The Menatone Howie sounds and feels like the amp I played. After all it is THE amp that pedal is based on.

Of the pedals you list, I'm most familiar with Zendrive, having owned one since 2005. And I can recommend it highly, but only for use with humbuckers, as I always end up plugging into some variation on the Tubescreamer (I've got about 10 of 'em!) when I pick up my strat/tele

I've had really good luck getting high gain Dumble tones from both my Jetter GSR and Hermida original Zen Drive. But I don't rely completely on the pedal, but rather crank the tube amp almost to breakup, set the pedal on a lower gain / higher volume setting, then use it propel the amp over the edge and into Dumble land. Works great at full band volume.
The difference between the GSR and Zendrive is for me, just a matter of taste. The GSR is crisper sounding, where the Zen is more spongy in a cool way.
I prefer the GSR on "hard" setting for Strats over any settings on the Zen. With humbuckers, both do well.

Not the most popular choice and Im not saying it is the best at dumble tones in comparison; however, a very solid pedal that can cop dumble tones and provde much more is the CE Pedals Fet Dream. It is a great stand alone pedal but is also fantastic at thickening up other ODs and Fuzzes. I use it with gain anywhere between 10-1 o clock. Depends on what youre going for but the gain knob is usable across the entire range.

The FET Dream is a great pedal.
I've never played a Dumble, and haven't really been on a search for the "Dumble tone". However, a friend recently loaned me his Glasswerks Super Overdrive. I haven't had a lot of time to try it out, but was surprised at how close my Kingsley Jouster through a BF'd Bandmaster Reverb and 2x10 Tremolux cab sounded to the dirt channel on the Glasswerks. My set up doesn't have the whomp of a 100 watt amp and 2x12s, but the character of the dirt is pretty similar.

From what I've heard of Dumbles and Kingsleys, they both have a strong emphasis on articulate-but-not-harsh MIDRANGE. Beyond that, it's a matter of harmonic complexity in overdrive - some are cleaner, less complex, some are more splatty, some are crisper.

Another often overlooked Dumble Style pedal is an Xotic AC Booster. Nice strong midrange emphasis without being harsh, breakup is warm and harmonic, and makes playing through any loud tube amp an even more enhanced and touch-sensitive experience.

I bought this pedal after seeing a demo of it and a Zendrive next to each other... they sounded pretty alike.
Hated it, though... I couldn't get anywhere near the Dumble sound. Maybe it was because *psychologically* I knew it wasn't a real Zendrive or Dumble pedal. I dunno.
I now own and gig with an Ethos -> PA. Gets me all the Dumble sounds I want, in fact it's one of two pedals on my board now.
