So, outside of the snapshots of Ferraris and Lamborghinis that I expected, I also snapped a shot of this car here... and I had NO idea what it was....

Now, I had no idea what it was, so I sent the photo to a few car buff friends of mine, and they were able to inform me that it is called a Bertone Mantide, a car selling for $2 000 000, and having less than 5 of them worldwide, and this a rare not-red example! I was quite pleased when I found out!
I figured I would throw in the other pictures I took as well, The first three are in Kuwait, not Dubai.

Alright, now to the "Not captured" list, either because it was gone too fast, or a white Nissan panel van ruined my shot (TWICE).
1 orange Lamborghini Gallargo
1 White Lamborghini Murcielago
1 orange Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder
1 Ferrari dealership, and everything inside
1 yellow Enzo Ferrari sitting next to other exotic cars
1 Maybach
Enjoy!

Glad to see the oil we burn in our hideous SUVs is allowing .02% of the the men of Dubai to drive exotic cars.

I'd look into that a bit more, Dubai doesn't even have THAT much oil, they just spent the income from what little they had REALLY well, and now Dubai is basically the Middle East version of New York, big business! Kuwait has far more oil, as does Abu Dahbi.
Must be nice! Can those dudes open those up anywhere?
Sheik Zayed (sp?) road is 6 lanes in either direction and from time to time doesn't have much traffic.
There's another 4 lane highway outside of Dubai that is rarely patrolled and usually good on traffic that I'm sure these guys know about!

Dubai is an international business center. Cheap shots are funnier when they're based in fact.

Times are tough over there. I bet there's a few used exotics that could be picked up for a really good deal.
Correct.

C'mon, if that logic was followed this place would be a ghost town.

It's not as bad as it used to be. Dubai is basically owned by Abu Dahbi now... in a simplified sense!

You'd be surprised at how cheap certain luxury cars have become there, you can't give away Jaguars, and I've never seen more Porsches!

Dubai is more or less bankrupt. They have lost squillions in this recession. A few months back they asked for time to pay their creditors and although initially saying no Abu Dhabi in the end propped them up when it found out how much it would impact on Abu Dhabi. All these people who bought property there can't give it away now. It was reported in the press here that an English football player who bought property there for £2,000,000 had to sell it recently for £750,000 and was happy just to get that. Lots of people can't even sell.

No offense, but I see cars like those at my local car show every Saturday morning. Cars & Coffee, Irvine - it's epic.
Thanks for posting the pics though!

When I was in Saudi Arabia- all the "ordinary folk" were driving late 70s/early 80s Impalas and Caprice Classics. Riding fast in the middle of nowhere.

On a global scale though, the people in SoCal are in the minority!
The Bentone Mantide is definitely still a rare car to have spotted!

Dunno, but it has a horse on the back. Maybe Ferarri something?

I'm thinking that theft might be less of a problem there than in Southern California.
I mean, who in California is going to park a Gallardo on the street and disappear for a while?
Do they have that strict Saudi method of dealing with thieves in Dubai?

Daily. They are literally a dime a dozen in Los Angeles... about as common as the Bentley was when that was the "in" new car. Actually, I see more Aston Martins now than anything else in that realm.
Too many people's conception of LA is the movie Born in East LA. Your car will not be stripped down in five minutes in 99.9% of the city. In the other .1%, you'll be dead anyway, so it won't really matter what happens to your ride.

its rare because there is nothing great about it. it is actually just a vette with a ridiculous over-mold body.

Difference between bankrupt and fully leveraged, they are experiencing over 50% growth. It is in their best interest not to have any cash any where. It is also in their best interest to borrow against everything they have. It's like google, compare their cash flows to another much older company in the DJ and you would think they aren't doing well, but actually their lack of cash is due to investment for growth. The saying goes that your bankrupt when you run out of cash. Its right but not complete. Its better to say, your bankrupt when your out of cash and you can't convince others to give you more. They are good at convincing.

There is a difference between being fully leveraged and insolvent. Dubai is approaching or has reached insolvency in some areas.

That would be the new Ferrari California - the first front engine V8 Ferrari ever produced.

Not really - if you're a petrolhead, you seriously need to check out Cars&Coffee one Saturday morning.
