View Full Version : Gah! Guitar magazines obviously have too many subscribers!

At least that's what I am lead to believe after my experience of today. Here is what happened:

* I subscribed to Guitarist Australia 6 months ago. Since then, I received 2 mags ok, 2 some weeks after my newsagent got it on the shelves, and 2 went MIA. I cancelled my subscription this afternoon in frustration.

* I then thought I would subscribe to Guitar Aficionado as I love that mag. I went to their site and entered all my details, but their payment system rejected 3 of my credit cards, 2 of which I have used successfully since at other online stores.

* As a last resort, I thought I would subscribe to Guitar Techniques mag. I went to the UK site where I filled in my information for international subscriptions, including entering in my country (Australia) from a list of hundreds of countries. After entering in all this tedious information, I submit the for only to be told that my country was outside the delivery area. Um...Why offer the choice of countries on the form if you don't intend to deliver there?

Anyhow, I think I shall remain magazine-less, and rely on TGP to get my regular guitar fix!

Frustratedly Yours,
Devan

Subscribing just fails, ive found in general. I just get my newsagents to get all the mags I want in every month, never missed an issue in 14 years.

I gave up om 'em. Used to subscribe to "Acoustic Guitar" and after the 4th year or so, noticed that the card in the mag gave a better rate to newcomers than I had.

I politlely asked for the same rate (plus shipping, which is expensive to Norway) and they wouldn't do it.

I just quit them. Haven't bought one since.

I pick up GP often, but lately have taken to thumbing through the issue, skimming, to see if it has enough of interest to me to warrant buying...in the last 60 months, I'd say two of them did. I find it is cheaper and I don't then have to dispose of issues I don't find interesting.

Go Cat Go!!
