come close to sounding like a Marshall? Have a Mission 5e3 and wondering if an 18 watter would be redundant. Any opinions?

Yes, it can! At one point I owned both a Clark Beaufort and the Marshall 18 watt reissue. I would often stick an Analogman Beano Boost in front of either one. While there were tonal differences between these amps, they were more subtle than I had originally expected. Ultimately, I found that the two amps had enough common ground that I didn't have any real justification for keeping both. I chose the 18 watt because I have a slight preference for British sounds over American.

If you want to push your 5E3 further toward Marshall-ness consider a speaker swap. A Greenback or Alnico Blue would likely do the trick.

FWIW, I eventually came to the conclusion that I prefer a standard OD pedal over the treble booster in front of the 18 watt.
