Hi,
Looking for something that will provide a larger than life, billowing distortion tone - think Oasis, and modern rock.
Amp is a clean JTM style.
Thanks - Paul

I love the menatone king of the britains. I can't seem to knock it off my board. Great for those big marshall sounds.

EHX English Muff'n is quite large. It's supposed to sound good in addition to taking up a bunch of space on your board.

Geek's British Ball Breaker would be a good one for that amp.It can get into the MK II camp, without the flab.
Normally I'd second the Menatone suggestion, and and probably add the Top Boost in a Can as one to try. However, since you're already using a British amp, I'm going to say +1 to Ben C.'s recommendation of the Fetto.
My ONLY complaint about that pedal was that it couldn't bring the mids like the Menatones could, but since you've already got those (as opposed to, say, running it through a blackface-style amp like I was) I think the Fetto is a great choice.

Either the BOR or the WIIO. I have both, and can nail various Noel Gallagher sounds with either one through almost any British styled amp. The BOR loves my AC30, and the WIIO loves any early Marshall type set relatively clean.

Something to consider would be that Noel gallagher used Orange amps on a lot of his records, especially the first few albums (the best). Perhaps an Orange style pedal is what your looking for? I know Tech 21 is coming out with one soon and there is an Earthquaker Devices dist that hit's that too.

I'm picking up a Matchless Hotbox. It is in fact, "HUGE, British Sounding pedal". It's voiced like a DC-30/ AC30, (running on 2 12ax7s, true PTP wiring like a matchless). Hopefully it's sounds half as "huge" as the big chrome box it's housed in.

I thought Noel used a Marshall solidstate driving an AC30 on the real early stuff, then moved up to a WEM Dominator, then to a JCM900, then added the Oranges to the Marshall for Morning Glory, then quickly moved on back to Marshalls (a Bluesbreaker), then to the Blues Junior setups, then to a Orange OTR paired with an AC100, then back to the Blues Junior setups, then to the dual Hiwatts. I never thought he used the Oranges very much or for very long. They always seem to worm their way out of his rig pretty quick. I would imagine they're too dark for him on their own.

I'm surprised no one's chimed in to say the DLS. I've never played it, but it seems like that always gets a mention is the other thousand of these type threads. Does no one know how to do a search around here?
How bout the BYOC Shredder? Visual Sound Jekyll and Hyde (or just the Son of Hyde)? Rothwell Hellbender? Radial Hot British?
I figured I'd add to the list. There are hundreds of these pedals and even more threads about asking about them.

Credit where credit is due! You know your Noel! I saw him a couple of times live with Orange heads in the early days, but he is known to be a total gear-whore and swap stuff around alot.

I dug up one of my old pedals and found an awesome combination for that sound- it's a V-Stack Classic, which, when set with the gain between 1 and 2 [it acts more as a treble booster in that range] and cut set around noon, sounds awesome paired with pedals like either an OCD or a Suhr Riot- actually tried it with a Dano CC Drive and that made a great combination also!
The V-Stacks are still produced in Canada but are half the price of what they used to be- great for going direct to PA and recording also!

BJFE Model H, Just find one...
Tough to find, but sweet sounding.
I'd also suggest a BJFE EGDM. It's Voxy, but goes into Orange territory as well.
If you're looking for straight up Marshall, check out Wampler's various offerings or just snag a DLS.

I've been on the same search and tried a DRD, Model H, DLS, OCD, Purple Plexi (100 and 800), CoT, Plextortion, KoTB and others that I can't remember. The only pedal that is in that camp that I played and will never sell and does that HUGE British tone to a T is the Skreddy Screwdriver.

Openhaus with the gain set low perhaps. It sounds HUGE. Barber dirty bomb might be a good one too. Both can do heavy gain good, but set low they sound pretty thick.

Look into the Menatone Shut Up And Drive. The Resonance control gets huge as hell. Should go well with your amp as well.
Earthquaker Devices Monarch with some mild delay sounds pretty freakin' huge.

I use a JTM 45 clone on some of my gigs. I've had great success with the Hardwire SC-2 for Marshall higher gain tones. I'd give it a try, it might save you some money. I also love the Hellbender.

The WIIO is designed to emulate the much lauded Hiwatt DR103. The pedal is easily one of the hugest, nicest distortions I have used. It doesn't shimmer as much as my BOR, but it is thicker, grindier and juicier. Perfect for any Noel tones after Morning Glory.

Radial Tonebone Hot British. Although I cant say it absolutely huge. Very full but you would need an EQ pedal after it to get it really huge. But it definitely sound very full. The best thing about this pedal is it's feel and authentic hot rodded Marshall high gain tone. Very amp-like in tone & feel.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Crowther Hotcake as Oasis is known for using this classic pedal. It sounds KILLER.
Another HUGE sounding overdrive that can go into fuzz territory is the Colorsound Overdriver. There are many clones of it.

To the OP, I'll vote for the Nord for liquid British tones and for throatier British tones, the Nord 70(which I hope to have by next week).

Oasis... Don't they use Hiwatts? I think most suggestions on here would put you into more of a Marshall environment.
For that Hiwatt thing I would use a combination of perhaps an OCD and a Fatboost, or go with one of the Xotic pedals, like the AC or RC. Something tells me the Fane speakers are a large part of their tone as well, to get that bright and detailed, yet smooth shimmer thing.

Hi,
Looking for something that will provide a larger than life, billowing distortion tone - think Oasis, and modern rock.
Amp is a clean JTM style.
Thanks - Paul
I think Noel was using a combination of a Blackface Fender Bassman, Fender Blues Junior, a Vox AC50 and sometimes Hiwatts before the band split. I remember this because I walked into his local music shop after the band split and his old rig was all in there for sale. Seeing how even Hiwatts have a sort of Fenderish tone (didn't Pete Townsend say he used Hiwatts because they sounded like Fenders, but bigger) I'd look at something like a BJFE Model H. I'm pretty sure before they split Oasis were using the American style amps the most. So don't discount something that mimics a Blackface Fender overdriving like a Wampler.
Also think about a good treble boost pedal seeing how you already have a nice JTM.

Their new additions to their line has speaker emulation optional, so the Leeds pedal could be up the OP's tree even directly into the amp.
Did you tell us about your choice of output valves, btw? JTMs being considered rather bassy, I would put something bright into it, like KT77s or something of the sort.
