About 2 hours ago I opened a box to find this inside. It's a 2008 R0 that is all stock to the best of my knowledge. I won't bore you with the specs, think 1960 Les Paul with a thin neck. The last time I owned a LP was in 1981, that was a LP Custom Blackie. Hope to find some pics of it sometime.
Now for the R0. The finish is interesting on this one. Both the color and the flames change dramatically depending on the light and the angle.

Very nice! How's the tone/playability?
Very realistic top, nice!

veddy noice, indeed sirrah. Wide flamey nice color. I like that top, I can't lie. Does it have an iridescent sheen to the top that is hard to capture in an image?
got access to digital calipers for neck measurements? How's the neck shape?

So far, so good. The neck is a LOT thinner than what I'm used to and seems to have a flatter curve to it as well. It only took me a minute or so to feel right at home with it. The tone is amazing so far. I still have to get some new tubes for my Top Hat to see what this baby can do. All in all I am very pleased with it.

I do not have any calipers of any kind. I've not noticed anything that I would classify as iridescent exactly - but it does change colors and flame like a chameleon. See the neck comment above. Think thin!

Thanks! I wish I knew more about this guitar. All I know for sure is that it's a 2008 R0. Not sure of anything beyond that. I still need to find out what finish it has and what the fretboard is. I am sure it's rosewood but I'm not convinced that it's Brazilian. But I can hope!

Beautiful! I love those markings that run across the grain from the pickup selector across the top of the pickups and the bridge...it adds a lot of interest to an already gorgeous grain pattern and finish...

Very nice! Great guitar for a comeback (to Gibson)
If it's a 2008, there's no chance it's brazilian. None of that was used after 2003, even if it was Gibson will never confirm it and that's where the money is.
So don't worry about it and enjoy your lovely Les Paul!

I'd read the same thing about it stopping in 2003.
It is SO good to have an LP in the stable again!!!

Dang that's nice. I have a G0 which I understand is pretty much the same thing (not near as pretty top as yours though!) as the R0 but was sold by GC. I absolutely LOVE it!! I did however put a set of Motor City 2nd Degree Black Belt pickups in it and it took it up a notch as well. I hope you end up digging as much as I did mine.........beautiful instrument.

I may look into new pups down the road, but for right now this baby is rocking my world! It's a keeper for sure.

Yeah certainly no rush, I just can't help myself though!! The more you play it, the more you'll love it too. At least that's what I've found with mine.

Yet another fine example of what Gibson can do these days. A beautiful Les Paul you have there.

Oh man, that latest picture is killing me!
Beautiful burst. I'm really picky about burst finishes, and that looks fantastic to me.
Turn It Up!!!
Thanks! I will do just that!!
This is my favorite shot yet. I need to stop taking pics and play it now.
