Unreal!

You've gotta respect that effort.

Major props to both finishers.

I forget his name, but the guy who started nike used to say running (I know this is triatholon) is all about your ability to work through/ignore pain.

I used to run track in the spring to stay in shape for basketball and on the team there was a freak of nature. He took states as a freshman in cross country for a few events and I think sophomore through senior he was only bested once. The reason from what I could see was that he could literally ignore pain.

Coach had a standard and used to stand with a few of us 10 paces past the finish line and we had to run through him. He had seen too many people grow complaicant as they near the end and with all respect to these runners, I see that as a part of their struggle near the end - they see the lane form for the finish line and a small part of their psych says, "oh, it's almost over." and that's a weakness. Triatholons are different though - all areas of the body are firing for so long and man, my hat goes off to them.

That kid that would beat the field on every race. Me and one of the other teammates caught him as he colapsed 10 paces after the finish line and he puked all over us. In retrospect it was funny as hell :).

He would zone out while running and during fall track he couldn't figure out if he was on the right trail and since he had blown way ahead of the field, he backtracked to the last point he knew was correct and jogged in place to wait for the next runner who told him where to go and BAM! he was off and since he was guilty for screwing up he floored it and came close to breaking the time for the race.

Ahhh yes, good times.

that was something. when she looked back and saw the 'stalker', as bob called her, that didn't help at all.

also, did number 5 make it across the finish line? i wasn't sure if touching the white line was the finish or if you had to make it passed there. seemed like the 4th place finisher thought you had to get to the clear pavement again.

#5 - Her hand passed it. Either way, she got picked up right passed it.

thanks, when i first listened i thought it was bob costas, but then when i watched it again to check if #5 made it across herself, i started to doubt it. i was going to edit out the name, but it had already been quoted. i may as well fix it now.

meh It doesn't matter lol I just have love for Ol' fishhair...I Cant stand teh Costas

"It comes down to that last 100 feet...to that damn line!" haha Bob would never say that
