i am looking for an OD to use at rehearsals (so i don't need to lug the pedalboard around), and i want something that is transparent and responsive like the OCD. should be able to go from RC Booster-light-OD to full-on-Marshall-distortion by the twist of a knob (and also be responsive to the guitars volume knob).

is there a pedal out there for this?

Why don't you just get an OCD if you want something like it?

Is it that you already have one and want to try something else?

Crunch Box and Blues Boy pro...not boutique, but good.

yeah, i have one already and i figured i might as well expand a bit and try something new instead of having two of the same. :)

Suhr Riot is a similar flavour.
The Riot is more upper midrange heavy vs the OCD's lower mids.
I have both on my board and find them complimentary.

Catalinbread DLS is worth a long lingering look as well.

BSIAB II replaced my OCD.

I find the Dirty Little Secret sounds like what you wished your OCD sounded like in a band mix at band volume. More mids. the OCD sounds great at lower volumes or on its own cos of all that bass and lower mids, and it is good for fat lead breaks. The DLS was like an answer to my prayers for rhythm, and into a WIIO, man those leads sing. Hey Catalinbread, can I have a free pedal now? ;)

Zvex BoR? I like that or the Distortron much better than the OCD.

Just stick with the OCD?

+1 on the Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret. Great tone and very responsive to pick attack. I never could bond with the OCD, but I loved the DLS from the first chord I played through it. The DLS also stacks beautifully with other drive pedals, especially fuzz.

The Menatone Shut Up And Drive is in the same ballpark as an OCD I just think it does everything you mentioned better IMO.

Blackstone Appliance Overdrive, give one a try.

Barber Direct Drive - I think those are kind of under-rated

+1. The only substitute for this pedal is an amp.

Does the Blackstone get that heavy?

Why can't you just take your current overdrive pedal off the pedalboard and take that to rehearsal instead of purchasing another pedal just for rehearsal:nuts
