Late-nite deposit in the dumpster behind the grocery store.

Usually your local trash site or landfill will have a recycle center.
At mine there is an electronic one for computers and TV's.
It is free to leave them there.

If they work I put them on the curb with a sign that says "FREE" and they're gone within the hour.

Invite the family over, drink Jack Daniels, and then take those old monitors out back for a little target practice with the antique .22 rifle I have. I'm in the south, I can do that.

This is what I do... I even helped one guy load an old TV into his hatchback one time.

I threw out an old washing machine last year only to find my neighbor (an appliance repairman) pulling it into his garage an hour or so later. He fixed it up and gave it to one of his kids :idea

I got $50 for one a couple yrs ago and just got $40 for another (27")

I have one left, a flat screen Sony Trinitron, still looks good. In the guest bd rm.
It will go soon probably.

Better than the landfill.

We donated our old one to Savers since we get a lot of good second hand items there too.

I always wanted to bolt one to the hood of my car and pipe movies through it from a DVD player under my seat so I have something to watch on the way to work. :bong A simple power inverter could be used for power. I don't think there is any law against it :red

Same here. I have gotten rid of a lot of things by doing this the night before garbage day.

Same here(not within the hour), even in a pretty rural area.

Don't know if it's still in effect, but Best Buy had a program where you paid them $25 and they would take your recycle electronics and give you a $25 Best Buy gift certificate. That trumps the dumpster soulution IMHO.

But the "free" at the curb the day before garbage day usually works in my neighborhood.

I put em on Craigslist for free, recently got rid of 2 in less than an hour. The local dump charges to dispose of electronics, so this is cheaper and gets someone a TV for free. Score.

FYI most land fills (and dumpsters) do not allow electronics because they possibly contain mercury, etc.

Most likely (atleast in my state) there is an electronics recycling center that your taxes already pay for and its "free" to drop off these there.

2 years of electronics school and all I remember is Ohm's Law & don't mess around in the back of a TV, even if it's been unplugged in the attic for years.
