Taking off the tone and volume knobs off of my Strat

How do I do this safely? They are on there quite tight, and I don't want to start yanking without knowing what I'm doing won't hurt the guitar.

slide the edge of a t-shirt or other soft, thin material under the knob, twist it around until it is tight, and pull up. Should pop right off.

+1, I use a pick to top it off.

Use a spoon to gently pry them.....works every time.

i usually use a shoelace and it works like a champ, otherwise, use your teeth!

Thanks guys! I used the spoon method and got the knobs off (he he he). I had a bit of plastic wrap from the pickguard under the knobs and it was driving me crazy.
