Frankly, it's been gathering dust for a while, so I decided to haul it out today and spend some new time with it. Man, am I glad I did. I discovered some new settings and previously unaccounted for sensitivities in the interactions between knobs. Had to move some knobs to "unusual" locations, etc.

Holy crap, this thing absolutely SMOKES! It's doing all the things I love in a D-style - chirp, horn-like tones, smoothness, chewiness, dynamics, articulation, sustain at low gain...and amazing cleans. One thing I never even tried before was the bright switch. Wow, does that ever work well with this sucker! I am getting gorgeous chimey cleans which don't mess up the OD channel whatsoever. Another surprise. The BB preamp sounds off-the-hook great into the clean channel set up like this. So, I can get all the SRV-like neck and neck/middle SC tones with the BB into the clean channel and then hit the OD w/ PAB on the bridge HB for perfect RF-style tones.

How did I miss most of this before??? This amp is absolutely amazing!

Clips to come!

BTW, big Tonefest planned for my house after the SOD II arrives. We'll have the SOD II, Quinn SDO HRM, Fuchs ODS HRM and....drum roll....the exact Peavey Masterpiece 50 head that my buddy, Joe, loved so much at NAMM this year!

Glad to hear it. I think you're set for Dumble clones for the foreseeable future. Unless your goal is to keep up with the TAGs of the world.

Glad to hear you've "rediscovered" the Quinn. I'll be intersted to hear some clips and to hear the report from "Tonefest". When is that?

My Quinn is finally in the mail and on its way to me!!! So hopefully by mid next week I've joined the ranks of Shad's happy customers.

I too am a happy SDO owner. Sadly the band is without a bass player for a bit and it's not gonna see as much work until the slot get filled.

Just for shits and giggles I played a sloppy version of Rikki Don't Lose That Number with mine when I first got it. I hadn't yet completely got a hang as to how to dial it in...but you get the idea.

Shad is a great guy to work with!

Now if my Kelly Tele would just get finished!

Ian, the amp sounds great on you, looks like the fact it has more than three knobs didn't faze you any :D

Thanks! I will. She's gonna' see the Finger Lakes Race Track & Casino this Friday, April 9th!

Where are you located Dave?

Rochester, NY.

Yep, I think so! No intention to even remotely approach Tag with his 'D' habit! ;) We'll also have some non-D amps and a mystery rig from a local shredder which I don't know anything about yet. It started out as an intimate affair with one other couple but is starting to grow!

Just waiting for my SOD II to land, then we'll schedule a date. Starting to scope out dates in April and May. Glad to hear your Quinn is on it's way! Gotta' be sure to record some stuff with your band if possible.

Man, we had bassplayer issues for over a year! I know your pain. The link didn't work for me. It was all distorted and warbly. Tried it a few times. Maybe an issue with Sounclick?

Careful now... Hip replacement is not covered under warranty! ;)

But, you covered my hip replacement due to same. WTF?

Yep, I think you played it just after the monkey knobs and new PAB circuit were installed. I can't believe I never dialed it in like I had it today. I was doing my Dad's VERY complicated tax returns all day (still not done - ARGH!) and, every few hours, I'd stop and plug in and, damn, every time it just sounded totally amazing. It's just so incredibly "chewy" and "organic" sounding. The dynamics and chirpiness are just nuts too. I had also forgotten how double stops and chord fragments just melt together without any clashing overtones. Of course, the smoothness and lack of any fizz or buzziness are wonderful features. GREAT AMP!

Hey Dave, not that you "need" another amp, but did you ever get the hankerin' to build something like a D'Lite44 or Ceriatone OTS? One of these days those kits are going to get the better of me.

It's either a problem with soundclick...or my vibrato technique!

Thanks for making me the only master volume amp I've been able to get along with!
