This is an appreciation thread, y'all.
I got turned on to Lurrie in the late nineties, but I just dug Mercurial Son out of my CD pile, and DAMN!
What a great, great record! I can't believe I haven't listened to it lately.
And his guitar style is the sh!t. Style, cousin! Style!
Costello fans: listen to "Lurries Hipshank" with the vocal, and in the first guitar break you'll hear a lick (and tone) that S.C. iron-on transferred into a song on "We Can Get Together" (another great effin album).
