I understand that, somewhere in America tonight, two groups of tall freaks will vie to see who can dump a ball through a steel hoop the most times. Which means one thing:
IT'S BASEBALL SEASON, THANK HEAVEN.
Our long national nightmare is nearly over. Soon I will be able to turn on my radio and not even hear the words "March Madness," or hear about who has the best assists per dribble ratio, or whether the field should be expanded to include every team in the Western hemisphere. It's baseball season, the Rockies should be very good, the NHL playoffs are upon us, and best of all...football season is only five months away. Soon all will be right with the world again.
...and here I thought this was going to be another Tiger thread!
Wait 'til next year when the expand the NCAA to 96 teams!

Baseball is only slightly above watching water boil and slightly below watching paint dry (the fume factor pushed the paint over the top)

Sweet - only 162 games to go.......It's funny, I spent most of my athletic career playing baseball. Played through college. Just too many games played in a season to care at this point and watching on TV is boring to me (until much later in the season). I do wish there was much more, and better, coverage of college baseball. I do enjoy watching those games. I'm glad you're excited about the season. Baseball is a great game. I just wish Major League Baseball would do something to spice it up. I think cutting the season in half would go a long way.
Football season - please get here fast. Looking forward to the World Cup too.

Watching baseball on TV is like watching a talk show on TV. Boring (to me).

Today is the greatest day in American sports. NCAA Tourney Championship Game, and Opening Day for baseball. Best day of the year!

I really think they need to play more baseball games.. there just isn't enough... and its oh so exciting...

I think they are close to going for it, it sucks if they do.

I understand what you mean in spite of the fact I love baseball. I enjoy the pitcher/batter challenge and dig seeing what gets thrown and the movement on the ball etc. If it weren't for that aspect I'd probably be bored by it as well but I guess I have the gene that enables me to be entertained by what's mundane to others.:banana:dunno
sports hell ends at the beginning of september when the NFL season starts! :D

IMO, sports hell is quickly approaching, and sports heaven is nearing an end. As soon as the NHL playoffs are over (thank god they last about 4 months...), then it's just baseball for months. I like baseball, but it's pretty slow when that's the only sports option.

I agree. I'd rather watch soccer than basketball anyday. Baseball is here, and it leads into Football. Best 10 months of the year.

I can't imagine being a one-sport guy. For me it's:
1. Pro football
2. Baseball
3. Hockey
4. College football
Is there another sport? Hmmm, seems like I'm leaving something out. Nothing worth mentioning, I'm sure.
I am a two sport guy.
1. College Football (I watch a little pro to see how the ex-Longhorn players are doing in the NFL)
2. Supercross and Motocross
Thats pretty much it for me. I will occasionally watch other sports, but those are the ones I watch all the time.

I didn't know there was such a thing until recently.
I went to a small satellite commuter campus where there were almost no sports. Graduate school was at an Ivy league school, which is almost like no sports and when you're in graduate school you don't pay too much attention to this stuff anyway.
Do those kids ever not play football? The fall, the spring, getting ready for the fall. I guess it's serious stuff.

Baseball, soon followed by high enough water temps that bring the fish here, bikini season, NFL draft, things are certainly looking up.

Baseball players stand around a lot. Snooze.
Football action takes up only about 16 minutes of game time--the rest is un-piling and huddling and resetting.
Soccer players gotta run and kick, but there is not much scoring.
Basketball is full speed, back and forth, running, jumping, wrestling, with many great scoring plays and defensive stops.
I'm just sayin'
