I am about to go out and mow the first time this year. Over the last week, the rain and sun have really greened us up, and the grass has grown fairly fast.

I love the first several mows, before it starts to become "just another chore" usually. Today, I feel like it is already just another chore!

I suppose I'll sort of enjoy it just because. But it reminds me I have SO MANY yard projects I'd like to get done.

The bummer is that it is long enough that I'll have to use the lawn sweeper thingie to pick up the clippings or the dogs will track it into the house. At least it's somewhat warm out today, though the sun has gone away for now.

At least it's a tad too early that I have to start clearing out the flower beds. But I DO need to get garden hoses out, which is not a fun job. Not horrible, just not fun.

BUT... IT'S SPRING! That is WAY better than more winter!

I actually miss mowing lawns sometimes. I liked being alone with my thoughts or listening to music while doing something outside.

I didn't mow last summer _ I was too busy and hired someone to do it. Felt guilty every time I saw them mowing.

I'm going to get back to doing it myself this year. Putting down some organic lawn feed later today.

Get a riding mower. It turns a chore into a lot of fun!

I've had a Dixon for 16-17 years. There's no way I'd mow my 1 acre lot with a push mower. ZTR for me forever! I cannot live without it. After awhile, it also becomes a chore.

Anyway, I started my mow, and it started to sprinkle on me. No biggie. The weather said it wasn't supposed to rain until tomorrow. Well, as always, the WEATHER is wrong. I did about 1/4 of my lawn and it started raining hard enough I gave up.

mowed yesterday for the first time this year . my yard is big and a riding mower would be great but its better than shoveling 3 feet of snow.

YES IT IS!

I gave up and bought a snow blower 3 years ago. Time to put it away, now that I have the mower going.

I certainly haven't reached that point yet. The chore is switching the tractor over from snow plow to mower (and back when that time comes). I seem to do a good job of procrastinating on that. Which I am now doing getting the blade off and the mower deck on. I probably have to get it done this week, at the latest.

But, I just love getting out there and mowing my place. I keep about 6 of the 23 acres mowed. Takes me the better part of a day to do it, but it definitely is still enjoyable. Break out the iPod and climb aboard.:aok

Already huh? Our first mow is still a good 3-4 weeks away I think.

I finished up the tree trimming a few weeks back. I might be heading out tonight to get a new mower. Hoping my Lowe's gift card comes in and I might be able to get a decent deal on one. I don't need super tough and I don't have a ton to blow so we'll see.

I heard the new iPad has an app for that.

I never tried the iPod on the mower. It died on me last year, I should look into getting it repaired.

It probably WOULD be a chore without it. I have noise isolating earphones, so it serves a dual purpose. Keeping the tractor noise out and the music in. I think the tractor (either in mower or snow plow mode) would be rendered inop without the iPod.:D

I'll be mowing for the second time sometime this week. I have a love hate relationship with spring. :messedup

I always smoke a nice cigar, relax and ride the tractor for an hour mowing the lawn. It's ok the first 5 or 6 times over the summer, but after that, I'd rather just relax and smoke the cigar.

Shoot, I love mowing the lawn. Means I won't see a snow shovel for awhile. It's just me, the iPod, my Shure e4s, and no one bothering me for at least an hour.
