I love this amp except there is no sag (ss rectifier) .I want to find a tech who can put a sag resister in . I like a spongier sound and slower response when cranked up. I was told there is no physical room in the amp to do this mod by one tech . Some people also told me I could never get sag because it is a class A amp , even with the Mod. And some others said it is possible and that a fender blues junior is actually class A/B . can anybody out there get me some sag. ps I dont want to put in a tube rec. Any info would be helpfull thanks.:jo

You need room for the resistor.A good tech could do it.It would have to go between the rectifier diodes and the first filter cap.A 150 ohm 25 watt inductive style resistor with cooling fins on it would be fine.
It needs to be bolted to the chassis and heat paste used between it and the chassis.Room to do it is rather tight, but I think it's possible.
25 watt may be overkill, but they aren't that big so I like to err on the high side.
The amp has two EL84's in push-pull,fixed bias.It is not class A.
Sag is from the power supply and has nothing to do with the class of operation.

At the risk of sounding like a pedant... If its a single-ended Class A amplifier the original tech is correct. Adding series resistance will not achieve what you're looking for. I don't know this amplifier but it sounds like Phsycho <sic> does.

Where are you located? There are techs in almost every major city.

I live in Manchester N.H. ( not a major city). I wouldn't trust the music store guys for this Mod, I believe someone who specializes in tube amps or fender amps is needed, From what I read this is a dificult mod, Very cramped amp to work on. Voodo wouldn't do it(they said there is not enough room and its not worth the risk) . I have have not found one single person on the net that has done this mod on a blues jr
