My friend is looking for a bass!

A friend of mine wants to buy a bass...
He's looking at the Epiphone Thunderbird Bass, and was inches away from purchasing one at GC. I recommended he hold off until I checked with my fellow gear heads! He's into the Silversun Pickups and The Strokes... his budget is between 250$-350$....

Your friend can't really go wrong with either a Precision or Jazz bass if he's into rock. But if the Epiphone gets him playing, nothing wrong with that. Check out some of the reviews at Talkbass:

For that price range I'd go with a used MIM Fender P or Jazz. I've found them as cheap as $200 and they are constantly available for $300.
