I am looking for accurate chords, and maybe some tab, for "Had to Cry Today" by Blind Faith. There are lots of tabs out there, but other then the main riff they don't seem to sound too accurate to me.
Thanks!

The chords are a bit unusual. The verse starts with a C7, with some sliding 6ths in key. The chords during the "Had to Cry Today" vocal are E7, Cm6, Am6 and Cm. The trick to making this progression sound like actual music is in the voicing...I use xx979x, xx899x, xx755x and xx665x...note the descendind bass line. That was quick and dirty...someone may be able to come up with some better suggestions.
That's not all of it, but it might get you jump started.
John
Here's what I get for the chorus part (pretty much what John has, but I've laid out the bars/beats):
|E7 - C#m6/E - |Am6 - |C#m6 - - - |C - A - |
|E7#9 - C#m6/E - |Am6 - |C#m6 - - - |C#m6 - - - |
|C - - Bb |
- then back to the Gm pent riff.

JonR:
What voicings are you using for the chords?
Thanks!

Here's a video lesson that might help somewhat:

I'd really like to see one of the pros at Lick Library tackle this song--I really like it. I think Clapton's playing is both interesting and solid on this song.

It may be way simpler that I first suggested. Try this:
E7 xxx430
Cm6 xxx320
Am xxx210
Cm x46654
Watching Hyde Park, that may be what EC is actually playing.
John
Cm6 xxx320You mean C#m6 ;)

Right, makes sense.
Here's another perspective that seems to confirm that:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6F3czhKWc9U&feature=related
(all of 3 guitars on chords, in place of guitar and organ)
This would also work:
E7 xx9700
Cm6 xx86(5)0
Am xx75(5)0
Cm xx554x
On the original, Winwood is playing keyboard too, of course, which will be filling out other chord tones. The chords I suggested to begin with were what I heard, as a mixture of guitar, keys and bass. (I wasn't thinking too much about how a guitar might play them.)

Actually, all of the Cm and Cm6 in my post and your post should be C#. The C7 during the verse is correct, but the chorus/bridge/whatever should all be C#m(6).

This live version is very different then his studio version, so I don't think that the tab in the book would be like this clip.
