ok so i don't use any hairspray Digital rack gear cause I don't shred but I like a few pedals and what fx loops do. I've got 2 amps with loops, one was modded and loop installed. Has send and return levels. So if I use pedals in the loop. I get a volume drop from my old mxr flanger but the Boss Ce-2 has a slight boost when on which is cool.
Another amp has a wet/dry mix control and a -10/0 db push button. Both pedals work equally well in this amps loop but the flanger loses a lot of midrange. Reminds me of Dimebag Darrel and the mxr flanger doubler. I usually have a wah and a Phase 90 out front of the amp cause the phase 90 is working as a fill in until I get my KR Megavibe. So my point is that I could stick the pedals in front; or all in the loop but the phaser def. doesn't sound like a univibe in the loop. Does anybody know what the heck I'm talking about?

Typically, pedals want to see an input of closer to -30dB, not -10dB. Some pedals are more forgiving than others. Put some pedals in front and others in the loops, and enjoy the compromises. :aok

yes, we know what you're talking about.
item 1, don't use that hairspray comment again. lots of people who are definately not hair rockers (Jerry Garcia, Trey Anastasio, David Gilmour) use rack gear, and very well. so you might want to open your mind and realize that just because a certain style uses certain gear and the style sucks (in your opinion) doesn't mean the gear sucks. there is lots of cheesey racks out there. and then there's zachman's rack of godliness.
on to your real questions... one thing we need to know... where does your od/fuzz/distortion come from? a pedal or your amp(s)?
