I hope this isn't a trend...

Get serious

Hulu has reported profit in its last two quarters, bringing in $100 million. If it were an independent company, that might be thought quite impressive. But Hulu is owned by Disney, NewsCorp and NBC Universal. Those companies have rather larger expectations.

There is no free ride in life.

This could also be titled how HULU died.

Why are they doing this? It being free is what I love!

"The five most recent episodes of current shows would still be available for free"

That's the only thing I care about, anyhow.

10 years ago I somehow survived without all this crap. I think I'll be able to live without it again.

Isn't 10-30 seconds of forced advertisements enough revenue?

If they charge for what I use Hulu for, they'll definitely lose my viewership.

i think i have watched hulu about 3 times ever... so it doesnt really make much difference to me...

i don't even watch much tv but i pay a ton of money for all the bells and whistles digital HD cable and DVR so i would rather just watch TV when i do on the TV i paid way too much money for in my den.

I just don't get the appeal of watching low-res video on a computer screen, and I am as big a tech nerd as they come.

This....I watch goofy videos on YouTube and stuff but will never get the appeal of watching TV on my computer or even streaming. I like sitting on my couch and channel surfing. I know people think they are sticking it to the cable companies by ditching cable but eventually they are going to pay for it somewhere else.

Well, I'm glad I already watched the entire Lost series prior to them making this change. I started in mid-December of last year and caught up to the current series around the end of February.

This could also be titled how HULU died.

Folks who want the content will find it elsewhere, e.g. Usenet.

I agree. You can't finance the huge amount it takes to pay for creating television shows and give them away for free.
