any thoughts on this amp?i was originally going to purchase a classic 30, but i have a chance to snag a delta blues for a good price, and have a friend that can mod it to give it a more marshally tone.

yeah..they do have the same circuit board.the delta has the tremelo feature.i guess i was wondering how the 2x10s respond as opposed to the 1x12.ive never owned a cab with 10s..

I haven't played a 2x10 very much, but a Delta Blues 1x15 was one of my go to amps for checking out guitars at one particular shop. Definitely has some bottom end.
My personal take is I'd just go for a Classic 30 1x12 so I could change out one single speaker and be done with it. Neither the 12 nor the 10s are exceptional and are likely the weak link of the amp and it's both cheaper to change the single 12 and you have more options vs the 10s.

is there much of a tonal difference running 2x10 v.1x12?

I'm only going on what I 'think' is the right answer, but a 2x10 can move more air than a 1x12, but with a little less bottom end which means, depending on the amp, you should be able to play louder with less boom through a 2x10. My experience is that a 2x10 lacks the more percussive ability on the bottom register of a good 1x12. That may or may not be important to your style of playing, but I almost always prefer a good 1x12 for my clean to very low gain playing. LOTS of 2x10 and 4x10 fans though.
