I think the story deserves the follow up. Everyone assumed it was drugs, and he did have a history certainly. Still, maybe people should lay off the quick judgments in situations like this. I wonder if this part of story will be nearly as widely reported as the initial speculation.
nope...this will be almost non-reported

"The medications did not contribute acutely to his death, therefore the manner of death is natural,"
But I wonder if the enlarged heart and the decreased resistance to the pneumonia were a result of 20 years of abusing his body.
Poor guy's legacy is in a bad situation. Just like Mama Cass will always be remembered for choking on a ham sandwich...

How could it not be?
of course the drug abuse took its toll, but it still wasnt an overdose
My daughter is a nurse and reminds me that many people actually die of pneumonia as a result of other diseases and/or afflictions being the primary problem.

No, I for one will always remember him for his positive achievements. Uhh... what were they again?

How could it not be?
Could've been a congenital heart ailment with familial cholesterol problems and the pneumonia was just contracted...

Its not unusual for someone with drug problems to die of other illnesses. I know a couple who have and no one who knew them well enough would think for one second that they died of anything else other than being hooked on drugs. Pills lead to all kinds of illnesses. I have never heard of a healthy 38 year old dieing of pneumonia.
The coroner was just stating a fact that he did not die directly due to a drug overdose and that is all he was saying. He was not saying they werent a factor or even the main cause.

A lot of otherwise healthy people die of pneumonia actually. It can sneak up on you. I came close to it myself a couple of years ago.

Wow, I was in the hospital for 2 weeks last year with pneumonia and sever blood poisoning. I should be grateful I fully recovered.

Right. I think a lot of people who die as a result of addiction do not die as a result of an overdose.

Well, yeah, they might be tweakers that get tasered and die- the taser gets the blame every time.

At least Caradine was with the one he loved, doing what he enjoyed.

Id say the vast majority of them die of something else. I just cant see an otherwise healthy guy dieing at 38 from pneumonia. Its possible I am sure, but given the facts with this guy I am going with drug addiction.....

Drugs or not... Maybe we can show a little more compassion for him?
I enjoyed some of the movies he starred in... Lucas and The Lost Boys.
From the wiki article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corey_Haim)...
Responses included those from former Screen Actors Guild President Melissa Gilbert: "Corey Corey Corey. You will be missed. May those who love you find peace knowing that there is no more torture for you... no more pain. Fly well, dear talented boy",[19] and filmmaker Kevin Smith: "Lost Boy goes home: Corey Haim, dead at 38. G'bye, LUCAS. You gave hope to the weird & unlikely."[19] Nicole Eggert remarked on the public eulogizing: "It's a little late. If people realized, he would have liked to have heard that when he was here with us, it could have maybe made a difference in his life."
