Got a 78 LP and the bridge is just gettin worn out. Ive had it reslotted, but as anything, it wears.... Its time to replace it. That said, I see alot on ebay for $10-25, but that seems really low to me. Maybe not, but thats just my thoughts... Anybody have any suggestions on a new bridge and probably tailpiece for a 78 LP?
Thanks

I'd go with Tonepros. Doesn't make much of a sound difference, but it's nice to be able to lock it down and forget about it. Works fine on my '79 LP.
Or you can check out the selection offerred at Stewart-MacDonald. Pricing seems fair. I believe some of the bridges come with saddles that are not slotted so you can get the string spacing just right.
Get yourself a lightweight aluminum tailpiece and you're off to the races.
PS - don't forget to crank down the TP and top wrap your strings.

He should definitely try that to see if he likes it, but not everyone does.

I have been trying the Faber stuff on my Heritages lately. Really like them.

Well I went ahead and went with Faber, as I heard alot of good things... I wasn't expecting all the hype, just a nice bridge and a lighter tailpiece. I was wrong... There is a dramatic and audible difference. My girlfriend even made the comment that the guitar was more "loud and sparkly"... Go figure. haha. I would describe it as audibly more resonant and dynamic, the sustain ringing out much longer. I went with the brass saddles, not the plated. I just wanted a different look... Anywho, I would absolutely recommend these bridges and tailpieces for anyone looking to upgrade their LP. Im tempted to get the locking studs now, as I hear they make an even bigger sustain difference over the stock posts.

Note to self. Thanks for the report. Oh, and as an aside, you'd better marry your girlfriend quickly!
