View Full Version : Congrats to Dallas Braden for his Perfect Game!
But from a fantasy baseball viewpoint, I dropped him this week! Well at least today's 71 pts for that game helped me get the win since i'm on weekly scoring, but now i no longer have the perfect pitcher on my team, oh well!

I just hope A-Rod takes note. Perfect Games are flukes, but Dallas Braden just fluked his way into a short list of achievers.

I don't know about "flukes" (unless you must mean "rarity") but it's certainly the convergence of luck, skill and the stars.
I played in one in my 35 yr. baseball career, and it was thrown by a guy like Braden, not overpowering, just happened to be "on" that day and no one could touch him, plus we made no mistakes behind him. And wouldn't you know, as the 3d baseman, not a single ball hit my way 'til the last out of the game.... no sooner had I said to myself "dang, it's the last inning, he hasn't allowed a baserunner, and no one has hit it to me", then it came my way ...
I was darn sure I didn't mess THAT one up, LOL.
Only 19 in all of MLB history ... that's something.

Still, good for Braden. I love seeing stuff like the PG and the no-no show up.

Braden's been pretty consistently tough this season. He's young. He may have arrived. The A's have some very strong pitching possibilities this year if their other guys stay healthy.

Everyone I've ever seen has had at least one miracle catch, and an assortment of almosts. It's just that once and a great while everything melds.
That was the first perfect game for an Oakland pitcher since Catfish Hunter threw one back in '68. Congratulations to Mr. Braden.....and against the best team in baseball right now!

That would be the Yankees. And they've played a tougher schedule than the Rays.
