5 years ago my wife bought me a new Kenmore Gas Grill for father's Day. Today it died! The burners have corroded away and the propane no longer flows through it. In short, it's useless. I called Kenmore to inquire about getting a new set of burners installed and they told me it would cost more to install new burners than to buy a new grill.
It seems like I can't get more than 5-6 years out of my last couple grills. I know what you're going to say. you get what you pay for. I will admit I usually only spend between $200 and $250 on grills but there's gotta be a decent grill in this price range which will last longer than 5 years. What do y'all suggest?

Use charcoal. It tastes better and my three year old Weber still works perfectly.

My Weber gas grill is about 14 years old and going strong ~ I don't expect to have to replace any time soon.

There's a very similar thread fairly recent here.
To that, I'll add...
I'm a natural charcoal believer. Having said that, I was given a Weber gas grill, and I use it regularly- not to mention the parts for it are plentiful and relatively cheap, and it's built like a tank. More than $300, but well worth it. I will also add that mine is a bit older, and some of the newer less expensive ones are made overseas. I won't vouch to their quality.

I'm also interested in purchasing a quality gas grill. From what I understand, under $300 probably isn't gonna cut it for a higher quality one.
And for all the charcoal/natural/wood gestapo folk, I don't have the time to deal with all of that at this point. Someday, I would love to have a smoker, but for now I'm looking for an outdoor oven.

Regardless of the fuel, Weber is the way to go. You might spend a little more up front, but that extra money is money saved when you don't have to buy another grill in five years.

BRINKMAN through Home Depot, $200. Best grill from Consumers report. My brother has 2, and I bought mine last year, and it does a great job cooking evenly. Best grill I've owned.

We bought Brinkmann at Target for $200 about 4 years ago, and it's still going strong.
With an upgraded grill and the 'tank-coupler' mod, it feels and plays as good as a Weber...
wait, are we talking about grills or amps?...

Yeah - I got a Weber Spirit 310 prior to the price increase and with discount cards from my employer. I think it uses the same burner setup as the Genesis. Anyways I ended up getting it for like $250 with a propane tank when all was said and done and it is hands down the best gas grill I've ever used. Had it for 2 years and done one major cleaning to it a few months ago:red
I had a part that had a slight tinge of rust on and Weber sent me a new piece free of charge, no questions asked after I registered the grill:aok
I felt like all my other grills were disposable up until this one:dunno

I got a huge stainless grill at Walmart, I know I know, about 3 years ago and it has been great for me. I got alot more grill there for the money than I could have anywhere else.

Did you check Home depot or Lowes for the burner parts? They sell replacement parts for a lot of grills and you might get a few more years out of the grill for maybe $30.

The burners cost about $20-25 each. They just slip on and are just sitting in there. I have a Kenmore in exactly the same condition as yours. My problem is finding new burners. Nobody seems to stock the ones I need. And NOBODY makes a replacement in stainless steel, so if I do replace them, I can expect 3-4 years before I have to do it again. Anyway, you should be able to find the burners for your model and just pop them in place. If you buy a new one, look for stainless steel burners.

I just did a ton of research on this and ended up ordering a Weber Q 320 for $354 shipped. It gets great reviews, is relatively compact, has a large grilling area, ceramic enameled cast iron grates, and is MADE IN THE USA. The Weber "Spirit" series is bulkier and more impressive looking for a little more $, but they are made in China. I'll let you know how it is when I get it!

My advice get as much of a hi quality grill as you can for the money...
A well maintained Weber or Ducane should last you 10+ years.

They must have just started making them there...I'm fairly certain the one I got a few years back was made in the USA? Regardless of where it was made it's a great grill!:dunno

from the Weber site:
"Weber charcoal and Weber® Q® grills are manufactured in Huntley, IL and our Genesis® and Summit® series gas grills are made in Palatine, IL using the highest quality components from around the globe."
The Spirit line is conveniently left out!

We've got 2 grills in back- one is a Thermos the other is a... Char Broil I think...
I don't particularly like either one- I mean, they're both fine, just not the most even.

The thing about weber is you just call them up 8004461071. Say this part is broke, and they send you a new one. A steel brush is a must for cleaning out the burner pin holes.
I had a weber smoker and sold it. Too much work.
Just put big chuck of meat over a drip pan in any grill. Set the temp for 225F.
If you want smoke just put some damp wood chips in some foil.

The Spirit I have was from before the price markup too...they're like $500+ for a 310 now:messedup
They're awesome grills though...growing up I can't even remember the number of gas grills my parents went through because they were constructed so poorly. They bought a really fancy stainless one one time - it cooked uneven and I'll never forget the trip to the dump I took with it:red

Weber is the best I owned, IF I ever need another it will be a Weber. I have had mine 7 or 8 years - burner had a problem called Weber, they sent me a new burner ASAP no questions asked. It costs more than the others but saves money in the long run. It's the only grill I have ever owned where the ignitor worked longer than a year
I think I have Genesis and I use it a lot most of our summer is spent outside

Char-Broil Commercial Series.
Cast-iron grill grates, coated in porcelain. Miles beyond the chintzy steel grates in other grills.
My brother in law lives in West Palm Beach, FL, where he uses his grill about 5x more than I do here in NWVA (nice weather year round vs. 50 degrees and grey year-round :rotflmao ), and he has had his since May of 2005 - and his has held up uncannily well. Never failed in any way or needed a thing.
That's why I bought the same one, his always amazed me at how well-made and tough it was.
Just a little friendly advice to pass on! Whatever you get will be fine, because grilling RULES
