I recently lowered the height of my pickups on my 335—I think I like the sound a lot better.
Is this going to increase my feedback at high volumes?

Don't think so. Your tone will be more "open" and "rounder" sounding though.

My 339 had the pickups WAY high. I lowered them and really like the results. My amp actually has some cleans now :):bonk

I don't think pickup height necessarily effects the amount of feedback you draw out of a 335. It may but in my experience, that wasn't typically the issue. It's usually the F holes that cause the feedback (which I've seen people put gaff tape over to reduce feedback). So that being said, glad you found a sound you like for your 335 :). If it does cause feedback, slap some gaff over it.

Wouldn't turning your amp up to a high volume be the quickest way to find out? :huh

F-holes - feedback - taped up
BB King's "Lucille" has no f-holes for that reason. Still semi hollow, but no holes.
Yes, plugging the F Holes with something will work for feedback issues.
Here's a more elegant solution though.

As for lowering the pickups I usually do this on all of my guitars. For some reason factory specs have them way too high IMO.

What's the height you guys have lowered them to? In # of coins measurement please ;) (you fret the highest fret and place coins on top of the pu's. Standard is a nickel, though I think that's a little high.)

To find the sweet spot, start out with the distance of 1/4 inch. I don't know how many coins that is! Gradually decrease the distance and stop where you love the tone.

Try 1/16 inch at the bridge and 3/32 inch at the neck.

I know this is a popular setup, but I have always found this distance to be too close. Might work well with some very low output pickups, or if you have a very light pick attack.
