I'm looking for an affordable funky wah for single coils. Do you guys have any experience/opinions with the Dunlop BG wah?

I currently have a Budda wah and prefer it with humbuckers.

Thanks!

I think John Mayer is using the BG wah here:

I use it. Own it. Love it. I don't want another wah.

Here's my shitty baked/drunk demo with a MIM strat, stock:

I like it with singles. Very bell-like and sparkley in the Red Mode. Deep Mode I use with Fuzz or occasional HB cleans only.

ROCK THE DOTS !

It's an excellent wah that doesn't get ice-picky and has enough options without becoming overbearing. Chicks (baby chickens) dig it too ! :aok

I've tried a few wahs over the years, but the BG has ended my search. Sounds great clean w/ single coils and with gain. Completely satisfied with it.

QUESTION:

Does it work with a FUZZ pedal? Or can you use the foxrox wah buffer with it?

Out of the boutique wahs I've tried (Fulltone and all RMC) and out of the regular CryBabys and Vox's (modern ones, not vintage), I like the Buddy Guy the most. It has the sweetest voicing to my ears.

The BG wah seems to get a lot of love around here, I'll have to give one a try. Is it only good with single coils, or do the two modes make it versatile enough for 'buckers as well?

Yes... started a thread on it actually ... it's my crying baby that's for sure.

Chicks do dig it ... & will go out of their way to say it ... how funny!

Totally agree - I have a box full of boutique wahs that I spent a mint on..
Ones I've ordered with specific specs, etc. & the whole while the BG Wah was out there waiting for moi ..

It also gives a slight boost to the guitar's basic tone,
when usually the opposite happens with the vintage types unless U have a boost knob ...
However, every wah I've had with a boost control on it didn't keep transparency when you turned the boost up (that always bugged me)

+1, how's it with high gain?

I use it with fuzz everyday. Works fine. I don't have germanium fuzz, though. One op-amp fuzz and one silcon.

Others I use it with:

Dirt: fine. Delay: fine. Phaser: fine. Od: fine. Clean: Fine. Distorted: fine. Reverb: fine. Tremolo: fine.

I don't use flange or pitch shifting or anything.

It's a sweet sounding wah, and the looks are kinda cool, too.

I love the Buddy Guy wah, it's been my main wah since it came out. I also have had and tried a bunch of other wahs and this one is hands down the best wah I have ever played. I Like it so much I brought a 2nd as back up.

In this video, I have it on the whole time, with an OCD pedal into a Blackface amp.

I could be wrong, but I think he wants to know if it will work in FRONT of a vintage fuzz. I think it will have the usual problems unless you put a FoxRox type buffer in it.

My wah is first in my chain after tuner. No problems. But will it be the magic oscillation/poo-noise cure to an Arbiter-type circuit? I dunno. It works fine with my two fuzzes, one of which is directly after it, and the other 2 pedals down from 2 TB dirts.

Is the Buddy Guy Wah true bypass?

Is the Buddy Guy Wah true bypass?

Yes it is, most of the signature Dunlop wahs are true bypass, with one or two exceptions.
