There's a seller locally selling what is labeled in the ad as a Classic hss strat. Given that I've only ever tried Pro series Suhr instrumentsand so may not be able to ID it - what are the identifying features of the Pro vs th Classic series? Serial number etc.
any help is appreciated.

The Pros are branded Pro on the back of the head.

I might be wrong, but I don't thing you can get the Pro Series in HSS - so it must be a classic.

This would make the difference fairly obvious :D
Thank you both.

It depends - the new Pro Series Classic C1 and C2 are only SSS; all the other Pro Series are only rarely found with an SSS configuration; the stock configuration on the S1, S2, S3, and S4 are HSS; the S5 and S6 are stock with HH; I've also seen HSH on these. I don't think I've seen an SSS on anything but an S1 or S2 so far.

Yeah, serial # on headstock is an easy one. Now if its not stamped "pro series" you might be able to tell if its a "Standard" or "Classic" if you are familiar with their body shapes. The Classic is ....well, the Classic S shape. The Standard is ever so slightly smaller, I think the beveled edges are slightly tighter, and the cutaways are slightly deeper.

I'm pretty sure that this is still the case with the Pro Series instruments (which are built to the same high standards as other Suhr guitars, in any event).
Also, if you contact Suhr directly and provide them with the serial number, they can tell you what model it applies to.
