I will start it off. Whats your favorite pre-60's archtop or solidbody guitar. I would love to see what other people are holding onto these days. Anything with some vibe puts a smile on my face. Heres mine.

It's a BR-1 from 1948. Two 6L6s and a big Jensen field coil.
Danny Cedrone played his famous solo with Bill Haley & the Comets on that guitar/amp combination.

I think "Larry" might be my favorite guitar on this board. There's something so Rock and Roll about taking a potential collectors piece and carving your name in it. Makes me think of someone buying an action figure collection and removing everything from the box to actually play with it.

Thanks. Yeah, I love this guitar...and I love the fact that Larry carved his name in it. I'm thankful that I was able to get it directly from Larry so I have the back story and a face to go with the name. I wish I still had my old '56 Gibson Country Western that had "Don" painted on the top. I sold that one to a fellow board member...and he won't sell it back!! Damn it. Hehe.

Yeah you have to have good tuners and heavy strings. I use a Not Really Slinky set of 12s with a HUGE unwound 3rd. It stays in tune pretty well.
It is worth the trouble. That guitar is just cool and when the light hits it right it really looks like it is on fire.

here's a little 1940s Larson Bros ( "Euphanon" ) acoustic I've had for over a decade. I bought it at Broadway Music for $150
when a good friend alerted me to it's very high value , I elected to have Gruhn's sell it ( just a few weeks ago ) so it's no longer mine - but it was a cool little gtr !!

My '59 lp special. It seems that I've developed an addiction to selling off gear---so that I can buy more gear. Of my electric guitars, I've had this one the longest (since october; I bought my j45 about a month before that). The funny thing is this: I keep deciding to sell it---because of all of the cool stuff that I could buy with the proceeds!---but every time, I plug it in and realize that I can't find a guitar that suits me better. On the other hand, I'm DYING for an es225t...thanks for the pics, guys...
