The unbuckers provide a bit more volume in split mode. In humbucker mode, the imperials are much smoother and warmer.

this will be so incredibly subjective, as it totally depends on how each pu marry's with the particular gtr in question:

my experience was however, the imperial was a bit softer/warmer, and the fralin was clearer and split very well, I went for a slightly hotter pu, for better split, it didn't make it more distorted, but had a nice "attitude" about it. (the fralin: nice midrange)

there are a tonne of winders now adays, but I really like fralin pu's after all these years, his stuff cuts in real world studio and gig applications for me, that's why I like them. everyone' s milleage will most certainly vary ;)
