Has anyone had any experience with a slow down software that they really like?

Kind of depends on what you're going to use it for. I use slower downers only for transcription of solos. I use a tool called "Transcribe!" and it's really good. I think it's 50 dollars (same price as a lot of other similar tools, but it's specialized for transcription work).

Amazing Slow Downer, used it for 8+ years now, no bells and whistles, just looping, pitch control and speed control; can save files w/ above.

Transcribe! for me. IMO, best program I've ever used, of any kind. Does exactly what I need it to do, very intuitively. Also works with videos.
Flaws: won't edit soundfiles (I use Audacity for that); new versions have added one or two unnecessary bells and whistles, such as guesses for chords (usually correct, but not reliable, and no better than my ears); only works with 2 video formats - not including youtube flvs (so you need a conversion utility).

One of its best features - which I've not seen in other programs - is the ability to mark up the waveform display with bars, beats, etc, and labelling. I like being able to see the song scrolling past, which I don't think any other program does (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Audacity. Change pitch, or speed, or both-nice free tool.

Best Practice. Pretty much like Amazing Slowdowner (which I also have) but FREE.

Roni Music makes a slow down program for DVDs, the Ultimate DVD Player. It's great for concert videos. Works way better than using windows media for downloaded videos. Their site lets you try it out for free for 10 minutes.

Have slowdowner it's a downer. Liked Transcribe right a way. More like an audio app and they are less in your face about money. Can't say the same for `downer.

I've used both ASD and Transcribe and prefer/recommend Transcribe.

I like both for different reasons--the sound quality is much better with ASD and i like the save features, but Transcribe has a more intuitive interface and the pitch waveform thing (something which I just figured out how to use after 5 years of using it) is cool.

Thanks for all your replies. I've just figured out that I can sample some of these programs on You Tube. Anyone try Riff Master Pro 3 Gold? That looks good - intuitive.
